Very important. I still think they should have two CBs next to him, I don't 100% trust him with one CB beside him.
So much pressure, and of course it still gets to him occasionally. This tourney could really be a huge step in his growth.

Such a shitty situation for Barzagli.

They really should utilize Maggio, too. I think it'll be 3-5-2.

Just a thought, but what about Nesta? I know it won't happen but he still has it in him. Look at how he shut Messi down at every opportunity.

And then Del Piero as trequartista... :touched:

if italy reaches the semi's i'll consider this a huge success. I'm pretty sure we'll see the germans or the dutch lift the trophy this time. And this is coming from an italian
It's not like the Irish and the Croatian team have more talent than this current Azzurri team. Look at Croatia. We lose Olic and it's a huge blow. He wouldn't have even been considered by Prandelli if he was Italian.

Balotelli hat-trick in training

Mario Balotelli shook off his injury to score a hat-trick in today’s first Krakow game between ranks, as Italy tested out the 3-5-2 system for Spain.

The Manchester City striker had limped off during Monday’s training session with a muscular problem, but was back in action today.

He bagged a hat-trick in the game between ranks of 10 v 10, cheered on by the fans in the Polish stands.

Sebastian Giovinco and Antonio Di Natale got two goals each, while Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio, Antonio Cassano, Emiliano Giaccherini and Thiago Motta were also on target.

Coach Cesare Prandelli continued to test out the 3-5-2 system with Daniele De Rossi placed at the centre of the defence with Angelo Ogbonna and Giorgio Chiellini.

It is increasingly likely this will be the starting approach against Spain in their Euro 2012 opener on Sunday afternoon.

Marchisio and Antonio Nocerino supported Pirlo in midfield, while Christian Maggio was rested due to a slight muscular problem.

I have faith in these guys and don't be surprised if Spain don't get out of the group, they are scared of facing the Azzurri like they have always been over the years. I'll be throwing $50 on Italy to win the tournament. If we get out of the group, anything can happen...but no doubt it's gonna be very hard and will require something special! Forza ITALIA!!

Will it be wise to use De Rossi in defense? I still think use Bonehead-Chiellini-Ogbonna is a wiser move, and make the midfield tighter with De Rossi-Marchi-Pirlo- instead of having Noce.
