Montolivo is quality, I wouldn't drop him from the squad, but I wouldn't start him. I would agree currently with his problems at Fiorentina, he does not deserve a call up, however this to me seems to be Prandelli favoring his Fiorentina players, that being said Montolivo. Calling up Osvaldo as well when he use to play with Pazzini back in the day with Fiorentina.

Quality? No, giving his contract thing he's cheap and decent. That's pretty much all the positives on Monti. As a player he's on par with Aquilani.

I think you guys got the wrong impression, 'quality' meaning he's just good, nothing special, noting excelent, nothing big. He's just good enough to play on the bench for the national team.

Then I agree.

Now lets start another discussion; does Bonucci deserves it to be in the Azzurri? He sucks for Juve and barely starts, he sucked for the Azzurri too recently. Think Prandelli needs to look to some alternative options.

I think Prandelli just experimenting. He like what he saw on the Milan game and decided to go with it.
To be fair Bonucci looks improved defensively but he still made unnecessary mistakes.

Well, I wouldn't say he 'sucks', Bonucci is still a future prospect for both Juventus and Italy, so he should still be under consideration with this rebuild of the national team. Not too long ago in Bari, Bonucci had the best defensive record in Serie A with Ranocchia beside him, last season he did play bad, but needless to say many other players did... due to our downfall back in January. Right now he isn't playing because Barzagli is out performing and has been our best defender, better than Chiellini sadly, but Chiellini did have the best game against Milan. That being said, Bonucci also had a great game agaisnt Milan and against Serbia did great to contain himself with them. So for him being good enough at this point, yes he is... does he deserve it? Well, with Ranocchia injured who else was there to chose? Bonucci would of surely been left out if not for Ranocchia.

The only alternatives I see are Astori, Ogbonna, Bochetti, Gamberini... Nobody really comes to mind.

I like Montolivo.
To be honest, we do need a vice for Pirlo... Because nobody can do his role in the squad currently... I would go Montolivo if the right price comes along... he would be the perfect subsitute for Pirlo if anything ever goes wrong. Though, I highly doubt he would want to join us if he is expected to be a bench warmer, however it would be a good move. Add more ItalJuve to the national team :p.

Apart from Bochetti who I dont watch, I would say the other three should have been ahead of him in the pecking order.

I agree. I am one who has been in so many heated arguments with him, but i still love the guy, i can't help it. One thing is for sure, he absolutely needs to be here during the Euro's. :D
