Montolivo was by far the worst player on the pitch along with Mauri. Can't believe the Fiorentina man played 90 minutes, Mauri how did he ever get a call up? Cossu deserves his spot.
Prandelli favouritism for his former man perhaps. Mauri has been doing pretty well for Lazio but agree cossu is the answer for Italy's winger problem, (for short term anyway). That said im sure cossu will be called up in the next game if he continues. Props to prandelli for bringing in a younger more dynamic and enthusiastic bunch of players.

Tremendous is stretching it.Italy lack a world class poacher big time.Which at the end of the day, will be the difference between doing well in a competition and winning it.A team of Italy's history should, and will never be satisfied with the former.

That's true, but I think Pazzini is good enough and so is Balotelli. Maybe not world class just yet, but certainly very good. Besides; the support strikers more than make up for it with the likes of Cassano and G.Rossi.

You you can't be sure of. Pazzini.I like him as a player, but he kind of strikes me as the player who would do well at club level but fail at internationals.Plus he is yet to have a significant impact at a major club.And..he will be 27 in a few months.

Not necessarily the resume you would find on a world class poacher, but i hope i'm proven wrong.

Balotelli has age on his side (if you go by what he says his age is :D),but he's never been a prolific goalscorer.Support strikers like Cassano and Rossi can only take you as far.You do need a top drawer poacher.

I enjoyed it, decent game. Lot's of room for improvement and relying on more individual skill than team play, especially in comparison to Germany who were more cohesive, but some good signs.

Motta and Mauri were crap, Pazzini was a bit static and isolated, but others did well.

He's 1 in 3 in his career, which is pretty good for someone who often plays a wider role and is still learning. But then that is the problem, he isn't realistically going to be the centre forward.

Aquilani and Seba really benefited from having capable players besides them, Alberto surely deserves Montolivo's place in starting 11. Prandelli's doing a good job, too bad he didn't become the Juve coach when he left Fiorentina. But rather good that the moron Benitez didn't either.

The defense looked good. I know Chiellini does not like being played at LB but it is better to have him there and take advantage of a very good Bonucci -- Ranocchia CB pair then leave one of those two out and have a less physical LB like Criscito.

I thought Motta was not so bad as he seemed to do alot of running and hard work. But I think Aquilani will be a starter in the Midfield with De Rossi .. the other place could go to Pirlo or Marchisio maybe?

Montolivio looks out of his depth normally when he plays for Italy.

Pirlo is a great player and has done a lot for the Azzuri but Prandelli must surely be looking at building the best team to play in the next major tournament and by the end of next season will Pirlo still deserve a starting spot? it should be Marchisio - De Rossi - Aquilani and Pirlo can start on the bench. Also i don't know if Aquilani and Pirlo in the same team in a 4-3-3 is the best idea. Neither of the 2 are the hardest working players
