As I said they play different positions. Jorginho plays as a regista an Italy already has Motta and De Rossi there, Sturaro plays CM and there are much less options there for Italy at the moment. I don't see how it isn't understandable.

Because Jorginho is a CM too? He played regista/DM for the first time last season basically. He is better then Sturaro litterally is more useful player. Sturaro has no place being in Euros, it was shocking enough he was even in the 30 man squad.


I couldnt care less if Jorginho hadnt made the squad, especially with Marchisio and Verratti healthy, but its a laugh to be one of the more standout solid mids in the league and lose your spot to Sturaro

I don't think Conte sees Jorginho as capable of playing CM in his team. Although Jorginho is the better player it has been clear for quite some time he wasn't going to be picked because he just doesn't fit anywhere in the team.

Jorginho lost his spot to De Rossi not to Sturaro and in all fairness there really isn't that many good Italian CM's at the moment. Conte even tried Florenzi and Giaccherini centrally against Scotland because of that.

Its still bizzare Sturaro is nowhere near good enough for this level even in this weakened squad makes it, when Jorginho has played and played it well as a box to box CM in Verona and initially for Napoli. The not being used to the squad and set up would made sense if a more experienced or known to the NT player was chosen, instead of a rookie who will just run around and bump into opponents. But he wont play anyways, so no worries, Parolo will get most of the minutes behind the other 2.

Scoring a goal vs Bayern is good in itself but says little about the quality of the player on long term, especially someone on his position. He did a good descplined defensive job within the unit vs Real, grit and hard work was needed then and he added it. Dont recall anything of note whatsoever vs City, its funny its being added to his CV of excellence lol.

exactly, which is why he is in the team. he will come off the bench, do a great job defensively and might have that one crazy moment offensively. i assume you didnt see any fancy stuff vs City so you think he didnt do anything special. the guy intercepted several of their attacks when we were down still and helped us get the win


few great games is not all it takes but it tells you a lot about the character of the player. you dont want guys that disapear at the biggest stage, you want guys that show their A game when it matters most. Sturaro is such, and had he such games in a Napoli or Roma shirt id say the same.

He was called up because Conte, recognizing that quality is very low, has opted to go with warriors. Not very surprising, coming from Conte.

I agree though, Sturaro cannot possibly be good enough for this level. Not yet at least.

water carriers dont score in CL knock out games vs Bayern, and dont make tie deciding plays in SF vs Real. now dissapear

Because you score a single goal you arent a water carrier? And making last ditch tackle disproves this how? (how sad is your career when one last ditch tackle a year ago is hyped so much?) Water carrier is essentially another word for a destroyer/limited midfield player. I love that word, because it reminds of how Cantona used to hate on Deschamps big time for not being a proper footballer just a water carrier, even tho he was a top quality water carrier

You know what signifies Sturaro's quality for me, not just the majority of games he has gotten the chance and he has shown he is not good enough, but the fact he came on in 2nd leg vs Bayern and couldnt controll a ball FOR SHIT. Litterally was a hindrance then even close to acceptable.
