In a 2 man midfield with Insigne/Candreva upfront i would. De Rossi - T. Motta are the biggest names but not sure it would work out in a 2 man midfield. Parolo with either of those 2 would work better i think

if it was up to me, i'd play a 3 man mid. a 2 man mid with the available players is weak as fuck and will get overrun by the better teams.

if we play Motta and DDR/Parolo in a 2 man mid, i want them to play really deep (CDM like) so that they don't need to cover a lot a space. the rest of the team could be a little more attacking then.

Candreva covers a lot of space too and Florenzi and Gaiccherini/Soriano can act as CMs in that 3421. Its a very flexible formation that will work out well with the players Italy has

Giaccherini :sergio: i don't know, i still see a gaping hole in the middle. @Post Ironic

i think if you play a 2 man mid, those two should be WC. i mean a lot a teams play with 3 CM's and easily outnumber us, which isn't THAT bad/can be compensated if your mids are Marchisio and Verratti...
but with Motta (a holding mid, not a real CM) and Parolo - good night.

3 CM's is the way to go.

Well see. It worked great vs Spain without Marchisio and Verratti, you just have to not use Montolivo and the likes. This formation allows us to keep our 3 defenders and play Candreva with El Shaarawy/Insigne on the wings. I forgot Darmian, hes the LWB in that formation

i fear it will be good enough to beat belgium.

:shifty:

We face a tough game. We're a team that's best on the counter, but we like possession football. Italians have always been very comfortable defending deep and since that's where the talent of this Italy team lies, they could keep it 0-0 till late in the game and score on that one chance they are bound to have.

What's more, we're going into this game overconfident after toying with Italy for the last 20 minutes of our friendly last November. Our players will have forgotten that there was a point in that game when Italy was the better side and we were really struggling.

And to top it all of it's a tournament opener, so it's always going to be a tough game for both sides.

Thats why they should play with wingers.
Candreva/Bernardeschi and El Shaarawy/Insigne
I've never been impressed with El Shaarawy and after I've seen him in the stadium against Napoli I've written him off entirely. I thought Bernardeschi played a decent game against Juve, but is he good enough on an international level?

Bernardeschi is good as a sub. Candreva has been a starter for a while so hes set on the right. I think Conte will prefer ElShaarawy to Insigne for some reason but the later should start
