He was turned inside out by Milner of all people, let every cross coming his way in, and almost scored an own goal.

Sure, he was good.
Focusing on and exaggerating negatives is a fun game.

Put it this way, if he wasn't Italian 'and mediocre' (one and the same, isn't it?) there would be certain members here who would like him ;)

Thanks, but please don't read the rest of this post. :p

What part of my post was exaggerated? He was bad defensively, and he did nothing promising going forward, except for that side net.

The Italian and mediocre stuff don't go with me. I don't care where he's from. I wanted Pazzini here FFS. :D

Ok, but you're still exaggerating. He had several good runs forward and quick through balls, even Andy Townsend on ITV was commenting how he 'looked very bright', which is English football colloquial for a player who catches the eye.

Besides, he's not always so bad defensively. In the context of the game I don't suppose it matters much how good or bad he really did, he and the team looked good for the first half of the second half, then really bad once all the changes came.

I'm just saying he did not look good, especially when defending. The team being bad does not justify how shaky he looked in defense. He was easily beaten one on one a couple of times and looked uncomfortable dealing with crosses. Don't see how that has anything to do with how the team is performing.

Now why did you think a quote from an English football pundit would help your cause? :D

Of course he caught his eye with that howler that almost led to an own goal had it not been for a great save from Sirigu. He probably thought Peluso was a youngster when he said that. :p

No, they made it clear he was 28 and 'a late developer' :D

You don't understand how the team underperforming makes a player look worse? It's easy in terms of the defenders, if you face attacking pressure and a midfield unwilling to track runners then players will get past you from time to time. He's no Ashley Cole, so that will happen more. If, like from 45-65 in this game, your team has most of the attacking phases and you only really have to worry about going forward, you look better. Look at our defenders in 2010-11, and then in 2011-12.

Juventus aren't a team who generally face a lot of attacking pressure, because of the willingness to chase and win the ball back. Peluso would be another useful option, if not groundbreaking. Or as B81 puts it; mediocre padding the squad with shit useless nuovo Padoin piece of shit mediocre crap sign Pereira shit fuck  :yuck: :( etc

I do have to laugh at Hodgson, who has been convincing himself over the last couple of days how this result and performance means more than it really does. It's so fucking typical. In the space of a differential between Gabbiadini's header going in and England losing 2-1 the focus changes. Football is a stupid sport.

@JuveJay

I thought you were giving me one of those "He was bad, but so was the entire team" fan boy excuses. :p

I do understand that when your team is under performing you are faced with more pressure, and you are bound to make a mistake here and there, but when you mess up EVERYTHING coming your way, and I'm still talking about his defensive side, then you can't blame it on the team. Besides, while we dominated most of our games last season, we did have to set back and defend in more than a handful of games, and we will have to do that a lot more this season in CL. I wouldn't sign a LB/LWB that is weak defensively, unless he was great offensively, which Peluso is not. I feel like we've gone too far in a needless discussion. Bottom line is that we don't need him, and he's not an upgrade over what we have in my opinion.

And I saw your post in Peluso's thread about how you don't endorse his move here, so case closed. :D

Football is a stupid sport.
Yes, the people around it sure help with that.
