I'm not sure what system they should play.

I'd be concerned that if they play 3-5-2 they will be knackered after an hour (like happened against Spain and Croatia), due to the strain that system puts on the midfield five, and they would then be overrun by England late on.

I wouldn't disagree with the assertion that Italy's best football has come playing 3-5-2, though.

how about playing 3-5-2 then switching to the 4 man back later in the game, hopefully with a lead.

Diamanti at least has some technical ability to play behind the strikers, or else someone like Monto would get eaten up by the English midfield. But i didn't see much evidence of his creativity/passing vision which is a worry.

I still say we should go with the formation we played against Ireland. A 3-5-2 is to strenuous on the players and they won't last the whole entire match. They're no Juventus. :p

I don't get why Prandelli hasn't been using Nocerino as a sub after the 70 minute mark. Perfect player to run around the midfield and frustrate opposition attackers. I think he really could have helped in the Croatia game. If Prandelli is keen to continue with the 4-3-1-2, then I would put Cassano behind Balotelli and Di Natale, or Diamanti/Giovinco behind Cassano/Balotelli. This England team has looked lethargic in attack, but they have good defensive form. The more creative players the better.

Gotta feel bad for Gerrard in that England mid-field though, they are gonna get run over if we go with a 3-5-2

I had to pause after he said De Rossi and Pirlo were over the hill. Captures everything shit about English "pundits".

And then I pressed play again to hear Pirlo described as "best of a bad bunch".
