Of course not. So it's a foul from Witsel. But it's something that happens lots of times. And players often do it to protect themselves. De Rossi's challenge last week for example was far worse.
It was nothing of the sort. He basically stiff legged Wasyl. His foot is also way down and not nearly as high as you're making it out to be.
So the player aiming for the ball is at fault, while the MMA-style kicking dude with the studs aimed at the leg of opposite player is just protecting himself. That's some biased shit

I know exactly what he was doing. Stumping down like that achieves two things. You'll never hurt yourself that way and you're likely to win the ball. The reason it's forbidden is that is indeed dangerous. Which is why Witsel was rightly sent off. But the reason Wasyl broke his leg is the intensity of his own tackle. If he hadn't gone in like a madman, something he had been doing for years at that point hurting countless of players in the process, he wouldn't have gotten hurt the way he did.
