Well if you looked at Witsel's stats, most of his passing was forward.

He is a fine player, not the level Juventus want though, Sissoko completely shocked everyone with his Euro performances. Rather judge a player on 30-40 games rather than 2 at a tournament.

His stats for last season 15/16 was 41 Games, 6 Goals, 5 Assists. Is that convincing for you?

Goals and assists are probably not the most relevant stats. I don't much about this player but my sense he is a defensive midfielder in the Marchisio mold. Not in the Pjanic / Pogba mold. You would have to look at pass completions, chances created, takles won etc.

I would claim that Khedira is superior compared to Witsel when he is not injured.

Ofcourse he is,but he's playing the RCM role.
Not much for DM role.

While I`m not a big fan of Witsel.. Lemina as a starter is not a smart idea Witsel is currently a much better player!
As for Matic - I`m not a big fan of him as well
Mascherano is 100 years old but I`ll take him - no doubt about it!

Aspects of Witsels offensive game are actually very similar to Pogbas. Not the same quality necessary, but similar approach. Maybe that's the profile of player the team wants, and if we miss out on witsel, I think Herrera as aresult becomes a real option.

They're also both poor when adhering to tactical guidelines. It crippled Pogba for France and it cripples Witsel when playing for Belgium. Most on Tuz haven't seen him play on his best position.

But I'd still have huge doubts tbh. He's Belgian so I want him to make it, but I don't know if he can.

Honesty, I think in the right environment, he can flourish. And a very underrated aspect of his game is his physicality. If he imposes himself more, he can be a far more complete player. Just about finding the right environment to thrive in. But if given a choice, I would go with Herrera to fill that role. Just strikes me as a more solid option.
