Not seen enough of Witsel so went online to see his best bits.

It was effectively him holding onto the ball and playing easy passes that didn't result in assists and him having shots that were blocked....

Is that what we're signing up for here?
If you play him as a pure DM you effectively get a player who does nothing but hold the ball and pass it wide. He's bloody awful in that position IMO. If you play him more upfront or even simply in a more free role, you get a decent player. As an AM he's okay. Strong in the air too. His main problem is that I don't see him as dynamic enough for our midfield (which has been our strength for a while now).

I think he'll be solid for us and we're going to use him a lot
We will use him a lot, but whether that's a good thing or not depends on how we use him.

Hmmm, effectively the role we want him for is more of a box to box role like pogba played. With Marchisio back he'd more than likely be benched for a Khedira-Marchisio-Pjanic trio.

That may suit him then but I do agree with you in that our midfield is crying out for a dynamic edge. We were light on that last year without Vidal and now take pogba out of the equation... Matuidi is sounding like he was a better fix
