Oh, so you actually had a case of the flu in Holland, Erik? Wow, that's amazing. Stunning stuff.

When you recieve an actual human case of avian flu call back...perhaps then you will know what you're talking about.

I see you're quite the expert, aren't you Erik? So you're trying to tell us the several hundreds of top molecular biologists who believe the avian flu could mutate and become infectious between human beings are all wrong? Are you saying there is no chance the bird flu will mutate and make typical influenza look like an insignifcant sneeze? Well gosh dangit Erik, they should give you a job at the CDC and push these unkowledgable scientists out the back door...what do they know anyway.

Right...and thank goodness you're not the chief field operative for USAMIRIID. You would probably advise your suboardinates to walk into a hotzone unprotected and start playing dress up in contaminated clothes...I could see that would be a big hit.

Never underestimate an opponent, Erik. Shit like that will get you killed.

People who die, die of dehydration, basically.
The only cure should be rehydratation.
I heared that immunity is really messed up too.
There is one possible cure which is using against regural flu, that is TAMIFLU 75mg(capsules and syrup).....am I right Tifoso Lou?

Sheesh, its probably just nature's way of controlling the population. Its hardly the end of the world, I mean its killed what 40 people? Lets not take this out of context, really.

It works for a lot of other people.

And I believed you weren't reading my posts anymore?

eventually, it will mutate, just like most other viruses (all flu viruses originate in birds)

Erik, it couldnt have been in Holland yet, it just made its way into Turkey and Romania from Asia

When it spreads via human to human, I just hope that someone has come up with a vaccine for it...things could get pretty nasty.

I said "THIS" flu, not any flu. What's the matter? Can't even read your own language anymore?

We had, click the link to the article instead of conveniently misquoting me and leaving it out, you hypocrite. Or do some research before you march into a forum, all hyped up about a one-sided report you found somewhere in the media which you apparently trust 100%

All I said was that it hasn't developed into a human virus YET and it hasn't, has it? You just confirmed that yourself by stating all the scientists BELIEVE the virus COULD mutate.

Right...and thank goodness you're not the chief field operative for USAMIRIID. You would probably advise your suboardinates to walk into a hotzone unprotected and start playing dress up in contaminated clothes...I could see that would be a big hit.

I'm not underestimating anything; but I would be more cautious to cause mass panic by indirectly stating this is going to cost millions of lives.

And for your own convenience, here's the entire BBC article I posted a link to in my previous post that you so happily ignored (by mistake, right?). You'll notice the date of this article is 22 August.

Dutch to shield poultry from flu
Monday, 22 August 2005, 04:29 GMT 05:29 UK

The Netherlands is banning farmers from keeping fowl outdoors to try to prevent the spread of bird flu.

Authorities fear the poultry could be infected through contact with birds migrating from Russia, where a strain of the virus has been found.

The strain is currently not believed to spread between humans - but there are fears that the virus could mutate to a more dangerous form.

EU veterinary experts are to meet this week to discuss the emergency move.

Germany has said it may adopt similar precautions.

Commercial and health fears

From Monday in the Netherlands, five million free range chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and other birds will have to be kept indoors - along with 80 million battery birds that are already under a roof.

The country is one of the world's biggest meat exporters.

The country had to cull about a quarter of its poultry after an outbreak of bird flu two years ago.

Correspondents say the government fears that a fresh outbreak of bird flu could hurt the commercial poultry badly.

The Dutch decision follows recent reports from the Russian government that a strain of bird flu is moving westward - and is likely to reach Europe.

The strain found in the Altai, Novosibirsk and Omsk regions has been identified as H5N1 - the type that has killed at least 57 people in South-East Asia since 2003.

There are fears of a global pandemic stemming from the H5N1 type, if it mutates into a form which could spread easily from human to human.

You have successfully shown you have no clue what you're are talking about. The problem is not with avian flu cases that only spread from chickens to humans, but the potential for the virus to become one that is transmitted from humans to humans. Yes, I know there has not been such a case yet, but more knowledgable people on this matter believe an outbreak such as this is possible. Get it?

If or once the bird flu becomes infectious between humans, you can't do shit about it Erik...shielding the public from regular poultry will be the least of your worries. With people travelling alll over the world from airport to airport you can only hope that the avian flu does not mutate like some scientists suggest. Again, are you telling me you're more knowledgable on this subject than the entire CDC?

And I never actually stated this virus will cause the deaths of millions...I just said the flu could be nature's next weapon of choice, which it very well could be. But yet for some reason you had to respond with your flippant and contemptious remarks...whatever floats your boat.

And Seven, speak for yourself and please leave my posts alone. Not too many agree with you either.

After the deadly Tsumani, terrible hurricanes, and devastating Earthquake in the middle east, avian flu could be mother nature's next weapon of choice.
Yes, Erik, let's cry over this one little statement even though it does have some truth behind it..

We already had this flu in Holland in August; nothing happened. As it stands; the virus can still not be passed from human to human. The only likely way to get it, is to be around infected birds for hours at a time or eat insane amounts of chicken flesh carrying the virus.

Flowery language? Understatement. Glad you're not in politics, mate. You'd freak out entire nations, cause mass-panics and derail the world on a weekly basis...

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4172182.stm
I see nothing in your statements that acknowledges the fact that the potential exists for the avian flu to spread from humans to humans...you just blew my posts off like they were nothing and there is no real threat for a major outbreak.
