I am well aware that UEFA cup was much stronger back then but the European cup has always been the holy grail.For the prestige alone it's far bigger than any cup competition you compete in.The world cup as of today is weaker than club football but it's the ultimate prize at the end of the day.No secondary competition is comparable to the allure and prestige of the world cup.I mean the Euros is a strong competition too but it wouldn't be anything like winning world cup.
When we talk about greatest teams in club football like Ajax, Barca or Sacchi's Milan, Beckenbauer's Bayern would also be up there among the best.
They have also been just as much unlucky as we have as far as CL finals are concerned yet have 5 CL's to their name(and 1 UEFA cup too).
To say it's bit better is living in denial.

They haven't been anywhere near as unlucky. They've played in 10 finals, won 5... Which is approximately right considering the luck factor in a cup final makes it much more of a 50/50 proposition. Juventus winning 2 of 8 shows terrible luck, and if you've watched out CL finals you would see that. Even the 3-1 loss to Dortmund was ridiculous in that they scored every single chance they had that match.
And not mentioning Trapatoni's Juve as one of the strongest club teams ever is hilarious. They won everything.
You are massively overexxagerating the prestige and importance of the European Cup pre-Champion's League era (or at least pre-1980s and the modern era of football). There was nowhere near the money, nor the prestige attached to it that there is today. Juventus, and this obvious and stated by most everyone associated with the club, didn't give a rat's ass about the competition before the 80s.

at Juve fans discrediting our European history through the 80s and 90s. Only 1 club in the world had more success in Europe through that period. Milan. And in large part because we just had terrible luck in CL finals.

They have only 2 finals more, and we've been shyte for over a decade while this is one of their most dominant sides. Overall looking at all European trophies PI is right, not much difference between the clubs. The fact that we played in a league that was miles better throughout the most of last century speaks volumes and made it more difficult for us to even qualify for the CL as regularly as Bayern did, hence taking away our chances to contest for the trophy. Up until 92-93 only 1 club from Italy, Spain, England, Germany and France could enter the competition. It's just absurd to devaluate other club cups at that time at the expense of the Champions Cup, which btw was rubbish until mid/late 70s. Another small thing, Scudetto was for a long while percieved as the pinnacle for any Italian club and Juve didn't give two cents for European competitions till late 70s. Further more Serie A in the 90s was far stronger than CL btw :wink:
That said Real M European trophies in the 60s are basically worthless since they had to beat competition of 6-7 clubs ffs.

Which is a fair opinion but one I don't agree with. I place more value than you on pre-1995 UEFA Cup. As I said, half the the CL era winners wouldn't have even been playing in European Cup pre-1995. They would have been in UEFA cup. Teams like Barcelona 2015 and Bayern 2013. That cup was massive in the 80s and 90s and is one of the reasons they expanded CL because of the huge interest and monetary potential that developed in European football on both levels in that era.
Not to mention, that we were primed and ready to continue as one of the top 3 clubs in football in 2006... And likely would have won another CL with that team we had assembled. It was only a matter of time. The 30 year period from 1976-2006 only Milan had more success than us in Europe, and only in finals, as we played in 6 CL finals. Plus won multiple other European competitions in that period. We were consistently ranked best club in Europe by the coefficients because even if we didn't win finals we went on deep runs every single year.
