That's almost certainly the case. He said Bayern were one of the three best clubs along with Madrid and Barca. He obviously wasn't going to either of those clubs (no bids made for him) so once Bayern came calling, he decided he wanted to go there.

@The Cusp I remember you and I were one of the first to say he wants to leave us for Bayern not for money but because he thinks they are a bigger club and have a much better chance of winning the CL.
I don't wish him any more luck in his football from now. Thanks for your 4 years of brilliant service for us, but I hope you fail miserably in Munich.
