1m more than what he earned here iirc, but duration of the contract is important. He signed for 5 years and that is heavy for 28 yo. Obviously neither side can be blamed; he pretty much secured his future, while Juve didnt want to get tied on a long term deal. Having 32 yo on that kind of salary is far from enticing.

Because in Europe wages are always presented that way. Mostly that's because there are benefits that you can't see after tax. This is especially true in the case of employees whose net wages don't reflect the social benefits they build up through their wages before tax.
