That didn't stop all the experts from giving him 3/4 highest rating for the Bologna game. Krasic, De ceglie, Vucinic and Chiellin all had worse game than Marchisio but no one is crtisizing them.
He didn't have a great game, but he did ok, did his job nothing splendid but no mistakes.

Were the "experts" Italian perhaps? I bet even most Italian correspondents for international bureaus are Italian in some way. So the experts are full of shit. You would have to be blind to not see how poorly Marchisio played against Bologna. He was lazy and barely moved in the first half when we were playing so poorly and then when we lifted so did he but he was misplacing the ball every time he got it which led to numerous counter attacks from Bologna. He barely tackled or pressured as hard as he needed to. Defenders simply walked right past him. Even Pirlo was more physical than him in that game.
