What's very good news is that according to pretty much all reliable news outlets, Conte resigning came as a surprise to the board. If true, this rules out Vidal leaving being a done deal for me, because if he was, they wouldn't have been surprised, Conte made it clear a couple of times that keyplayers remaining are condisitons required for him to continue.

Still doesn't mean that without Conte, Vidal might have second thoughts about going abroad.

Overriding Conte's wishes, they gutted Conte of a linchpin of the team he planned to take forward the next season -- making him feel as if they were moving backwards instead of forwards. And Conte didn't want to nurse the team for a season until the next summer transfer window to capitalize on the money.
