It's not that easy to stop a cross when that player is in the middle of the park. You can lunge in and get walked around in literally any direction.

On the wings, you can lunge in and have protection from the byline. You can eliminate options and force players to cross into you.

If you are trying to stop crosses from 40 yards out in the middle of the park, you will fail 9 times out of 10 anyway. The best you can do is get walked around.
Oh yes, walk around Vidal! The best ball winner in our midfield can simply be walked around! What utter shite!

Also, if Giaccherini really tracked the run of Gonzalez, then the guy who passed to Ledesma would be in ACRES of space. If he had received a pass back, he could've easily has a shot on goal ala Pogba. Or goodness knows what else he would've done with acres of space and only Padoin closest to him.

I love it and hate it. Strong in defence, but I don't think it's the best for our current strikers.
You should dislike it defensively from what you've been saying.

It generally becomes a back five when the opposition has the ball in your half.

That means you aren't likely to be able to get the players up the pitch to put much pressure on the opposition when they have the ball.

Systems based on a back four are generally better at allowing a team to press the ball.

We didn't need "players" to close down Ledesma. We just needed one(at least on that goal). Preferably one closest to him, i.e. Vidal.

Also, when we got 5 players in the defensive line, then it doesn't make sense to blame Giaccherini for tracking Gonzales when it was the job of one of the defenders, namely Peluso here, to do so. And judging as Giacch was in the midfield at the time of that move, it's totally uncharacteristic of him to chase a player who is running towards the center of defence. Not to mention it's useless doing that because Giacc was in no position to make any difference against such a high cross. I fail to see how Giacc could've influenced the outcome in any way. Maybe if this was a pass along the ground, maybe. But a well-placed aerial pass that even Peluso could do nothing against? There is no legitimate reason to blame Giachherini for this.

And all the while you're doing this, you fail to acknowledge the very simple task of a midfielder like Vidal: closing down another midfielder. Vidal could've very easily influenced the play by preventing the cross and averting the danger. Yet you want to ignore this and blame Giaccherini. Ridiculous!

Or maybe it falls into the toilet as you surf porn while taking a shit.

Apologise to the vidal gods and it MIGHT not happen.
The Vidal gods can kiss my ass!
