I'd still like to see him play more defensively like Davids. He can contribute in attack but i'm not sure that contribution is elite enough.
So, we should muzzle him upfront and negate his very good ability to play others in because it might not be "elite enough" or something?

Are you for real?

Almost every game this guy's creating at least one or two great opportunities.

More than some of our attacking players can say.

Time will tell.
It's a balance thing. At Madrid, he wouldn't play ahead of Ozil.

Considering, at the same time as his forays forward, he still remains a monster defensively in the center, I fail to see the issue of balance being a problem...

He's a two-way player.

Madrid? Ozil? Am I in the right forum?

Surprisingly our most creative player yesterday. Set up two very good chances for Pepe and Licht. Overall it was a bad game, only due to the two big mistakes. Despite the mistakes, he gets a higher rating than his CM partners.
It was a Melo-ish performance, where a good match is nullified by a brainfart(s), so I'd call this a negative performance by Vidal, where the bad overshadowed the good.
Incorrect. When Melo brainfarts he is unable to rid himself of the residue methane and will continually do stupid things all game. Vidal on the other hand is able to climb out of the hole and perform well in the same game.

I'm not doubting his quality. But maybe sitting deeper, he would intercept more balls to launch counters. Pressing high can become a waste if they can pass.

Anyway, it's just a preference.

Perhaps you've already had this discussion, but I'd just like to say that I thought he had a good game regardless of his errors. They were so annoyingly rare, as well. I think he would've been able to clear that ball 99 out of 100 times. And the penalty decision was very dubious in my opinion. I've re-seen it a few times and to me it seems as if the Roma player is seeking Vidal's leg, not the other way around.

Anyway, a penalty was given, so it must go down as a second big error by Vidal.

But despite all this he fought like a beast and even contributed to our attacking flow, so I'm at least happy to see that he can pick himself up after such negative episodes. Overall, I think he was one of our better players.

taddei also completely missed the ball, which left esti with a shot on goal, it was a freak mistake yes, happens to the best of us, vidal did well to pick himself up and still put in a better shift than the other midfielders.

Yeah that is something to be happy about.

Have we forgotten how great Boumsong was if it wasn't for his errors?
