If our offer is the same as Bayern's, I doubt Bayer Leverkusen would be more willing to sell to their direct rivals in the standings. Bayern finished 2 pts behind them last season, and selling their best player to them would make a repeat performance even more difficult.

Nerlinger and new head coach Jupp Heynckes also confirmed Bayern’s interest in signing Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal, who has “very clearly" stated his desire to follow his former boss to the south. “But we've also noted the comments made by the Bayer Leverkusen directors," Nerlinger remarked.

The Rhineland outfit do not wish to sell the Chile star, currently in the preparatory phase ahead of the Copa America. “So again, we'll have to wait and see," stated Nerlinger.
