If you dont think you have "an ultimate goal" to live for it's easier to die ;)
Ahh I guess that sorta makes sense...

but then again, I kinda see it as losing everything you've got, if this life is the be-all and end-all

maybe afraid of death is a good thing, so you wont do something bad in life so you will straight to heaven after you dead
I don't think fear is a good incentive for acting good, at least not in life as a whole.

Death used to be smth that I'd never thought of until 2 yrs ago when my love one died. I start to realize that death is just around me and can come to me any day. Afraid? no. May be it's the only way that I can meet her and be with her again.

Can anyone tell me is there life after death. sometime I wish there was, so my love could see me from above and would know how much I love her ( I hate myself for not showing her enuff how much I love her when she was alive). But sometime I hope there was not, so her soul wouldn't be suffered, sad or in any pain.

That's really sad, i'm sorry to hear that man...

Anyone like the song "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men?

That sounds exactly like what you're talking about...

Thats what I was talking to my Sociology teacher a few days back. We were talking about moral and I said that not doing evil because you are afraid of the punishment is not moral, therefor I believe that religion makes us any more moral than we, as humans, already are. True moral can only exist in a state of anarchy, withouth any laws, boundaries, rules or religions

Anyways, the point of this is that living in fear your whole life is not the way to go.

I must disagree. The feeling of water filling your lungs probably wouldn't be very pleasant at all. I hate the feeling of not being able to breathe... i nearly drowned twice, once at the beach when i was 6, i got swept away and caught in a rip... and another time, also when i was very young, i was in a swimming pool when the inflateable boat went over the top of me and i couldn't get out from under it
I nearly drowned a countless number of times in the sea. I would always take risks and sometimes went too far. I've also been hit by a car and threatened with a knife - I really, REALLY prefer the near-drowning.

well to me- the feeling of suffocation in water is horrid. i love the water, but id rather die of a gunshot wound, something quick and painless rather than a knife or water.

what happened with the knife incident erik?

I have a question for everyone non-religious in here: why are you afraid of death when you strongly believe there's nothing to follow it?!
I'm non-religious. But i don't fear death. I fear pain, saddness, fear in the process of death (like i would feel so afraid if i were drowning) and loosing my life.

Ummm...... to explain what i mean by that last part :D ....... i don't fear the fact that i will be gone and i don't fear what will happen to me after that cos i don't believe in an afterlife. What i do fear is loosing the life that i have. Which is loosing the poeple and the experiences that i have now.

Sunshine - I try to avoid them but I nearly drowned again last summer while swimming in the sea :D Don't worry though - I'm a good swimmer and can get myself out of those situations thankfully

yeah i did experience it and its the epitome of helplessness. you cant sit down and come to an agreement with it. you cant punch it, or push it away- and no amount of physical, or mental struggle can save you. that feeling itself hurt more than the actual lack of oxygen. oh why dont i have gills.....

kicked it out eh? was he a midget or were you well-versed in martial arts?
