Why have they chosen to have the retro Ambrosiana SS Milano for their shirt . I appreciate their Ultra's have links with Nazio but I'm surprised Massimo Moratti would allow it.
Times have changed. It's missing the center artwork of those days, and that cross is the symbol of Milan -- as was on the back of their jerseys last season. Add to that Parma did a nice job pulling out the navy cross on their jerseys in recent years, a bored Inter design team probably figured "why not?" -- not recognizing the connection to the 1920s Ambrosiana-Inter squad.

I don't read any more into it than that.

a couple of years ago a player of Lazio I think wanted to play with the number 99, I can't think of his name but isn't that a reflection of their fan base.

Hell, 88 means Lynn Swann playing for the 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers in my book... I can sympathize with Gigi's confusion over the numerologists.
I'm not saying Gigi knew what he was doing, Heil Hitler doesn't exactly leap into my mind at the mention of 88 either.
