Quaggy is good; IQ and Pepe are just above average, Motta and Flores are average. None of them are world class.
The point is, this reveals another painful truth. That we seem to always want to settle for the good or above average players instead of going for the best. It's not about money either; it's not like we've been cheap. But it's that we're just spending out money on all the wrong players.
I miss the days where signing someone like Mutu was our last resort. Now signing a player like him is but a dream.

I can reveal the painful truth to you, we are building a new team, post calciopoli era 2, this is year 1, and it will take a few years to complete it. We already signed quite a big amount of new players this summer and formed a solid backbone and will continue to do so. Building the team the right way, not doing a Milan and buying big name strikers while the whole team needs a makeover.
Maybe a statement needs to be made, Pepe is better than Giovinco. How about that?

Don't get it twisted. I think Quag was our best player along with Krasic in the first half of the season. But even so, I think our latest trend is to settle with average players and it's really fucking annoying.
We're signing the Luca Toni's and the Floro Flores' instead of signing the Forlan's and the Pazzini's. It might not bother you, but it's things like this will decide whether or not we make it to the C.L next year. And unless we witness some sort of miracle, we won't.
Just look at the table.
Inter, Milan, and Roma are probably going to finish above us.
Napoli and Lazio are playing better us and are probably better candidates for that 4th spot.
What do we do in January instead of get a great LB and a great forward. We sign a bunch of clowns and expect everything to be alright. I'm not usually this pessimistic but I really don't expect any good things to come out of these signings.
