I can reveal the painful truth to you, we are building a new team, post calciopoli era 2, this is year 1, and it will take a few years to complete it. We already signed quite a big amount of new players this summer and formed a solid backbone and will continue to do so. Building the team the right way, not doing a Milan and buying big name strikers while the whole team needs a makeover.
I understand that this a long term project, but signing the 'big' names in the positions that we need strengthened seems logical, no?
I mean, why sign Motta and Traore? How are they going to be our backbone?
Two bench warmers from Roma and Arsenal are going to shape our future now?
I will leave the midfield alone because I think Krasic and Aquilani are both players you can truly build a team around.
Moving on to attack. This is the area where we royally fucked up. I even think we got really lucky with Quag. He performed well beyond anyone's expectations and he will be sorely missed. But what about the rest?
Why is Amauri preferred to Trez? FFS we are still depending on a 36 year old to win us games. If that's not desperate then what is?
Iaquinta is always injured but I won't judge him because he's at least consistent.
All in all, we have a damaged team and instead of adding more quality and making things right in January. We get Toni and Flores. That grinds my gears.
