Quarter final is indeed a failure whether Conte is in-charge or Allegri.
How can it be a failure? If we are considered to be the 10th team in Europe, as a minimum objective is acceptable.
I did not consider a failure going out to Bayern the way we did (let's not forget how many key players we missed) in the QF two years but last years campaign was a total disaster and the exit to Benfica is all on him sparing the best players in Europe in order to play fucking Sassuolo.
That was just the bottom of his career with Juve as a Coach and if he fails to admit it, then good thing he is gone.
I never liked is whineing about the refs, nor his excuse for under achieving, he is a guy who likes the easy win like Mou and will always choose the easier path.

Says who?

If Juve play in the champions league just for the sake of it then this is sad. There's no point playing in a competition unless you aim for the trophy.

Conte will be praying that Allegri fails as well to prove his point. But fuck Conte, I agree he did alot for the team. But the team and the organization did alot for him as well. I am sure Juventus would be his only success, unless he manages to coach PSG.

What are you talking about? clubs have objectives that they set and they plan accordingly and success is meeting those goals. For some clubs it is to stay in the first division while for others its europa qualification or CL and then there are teams who aim at a title challenge.

It would be stupid to aim for the trophy and consider anything else a failure. This is like saying a company should have the majority of the market share or else is a failure. Growth (if there is a capacity for it) is success and we have grown a lot since Conte took over.

Not advancing from the group stages last year will always be a failure Conte will have to live with whether he agress with it or not.
What about the QF exit?

He is right. People consider only his second season in Europe and neglect his first one which was a success.

In his first season at Juve he performed a miracle in Serie A and we didnt have european football.
In his second season at Juve he did very well in Serie A building on the previous success and did very well in Europe especially considering a very limited squad.
In his third season at Juve he performed exceptionally well in Serie A but did bad in Europe. Bearing in mind how things went in turkey and that Allegri (who has a good european record) is struggling in Europe with the same squad.

In either case, the man is a league master, doing better every year and has one good season and one bad season in Europe.

The emphasis on the last european campaign as if its representative of his entire skills set as a coach (even just in europe) is falling for the fallacy of misleading vividness. It is just as ridiculous as me saying that he is fantastic in European competitions because of his first CL run and ignoring his second year.

2 years is a very very small sample to generalize from and if we assume it wasn't small and was somehow representative then we'd still end up with equal successes to failure.
Be butthurt for how he dumped us all you want but the guy definitely was very successful with us and isnt getting enough credit for what he built.
He is right in part, but also wrong in another.

His successful QF run in his first year in Europe should have been lauded and seen as an accomplishment for Juve, especially topping the group with that demolition of Chelsea and the away win at Shakhtar... It was a very impressive debut campaign. It should have been celebrated and lauded.

However, the man seriously needed to eat some humble pie with regards to his second European campaign. For him to constantly make excuses for our Group stage exit, and for our mediocre performance against Benfica, and not allow for the suggestion that it was a failure of a campaign, well, it's more than a little arrogant. He needed to come out, apologize for the failure and say we were going to learn from it, and move forward from it, grow; he needed to say, that he as a coach had failed to certain degree in our targets last year, partly due to poor tactics, mentality, preparation, whatever... He can say we had some bad luck, sure, but he also needed to admit that he didn't do a great job in Europe last year, and that he was going to learn from his mistakes. Humble pie. He needed to show humility. Instead he immediately got his hackles up and made excuse after excuse for every slip-up.

That's disappointing. And I thought (and at times, still do think) the man was/is/will be an amazing manager... But he needs to show some humility. His hubris got to be a little ridiculous as last year wore on, and even now. It will be his downfall if he's not careful.

He used to say last year was a success overall because he retained the Scudetto with record points.
He had every right to complain about Istanbul because that robbed us our chance to make up for earlier mistakes. Sure he could have more humility but he was being labelled a flop in Europe here and half of the forum here were hoping for Montella and equally clueless coaches to replace him.

Conte should have said we disappointed in the CL sure but the fans' reaction was way out of proportion. People discredited all his achievements from prior seasons and in Serie A during that same season and labelled him a flop. It is natural that he wants to undermine the CL campaign and emphasize his work in Serie A

Buffon, De Rossi briefed on Balo
By Football Italia staff

Gianluigi Buffon and Daniele De Rossi were apparently told prior to Antonio Conte’s Italy announcement that Mario Balotelli would return to the Azzurri squad.

Balotelli had not featured in either of Conte’s first two Azzuro squads, and was criticised by captain Buffon after the Azzurri’s World Cup exit this summer.

De Rossi’s statements following the crucial defeat to Uruguay in the summer were also seen as having been aimed at the 24-year-old.

The Corriere dello Sport proclaim this morning with a front-page story that De Rossi and Buffon had been briefed by the CT in advance that Super Mario would be returning to the Italy squad.

The Rome-based newspaper claims that the two players, World Cup winners in 2006 and with over 200 caps between them were informed that Balotelli would be returning to the squad, but with warnings over his conduct.

The sports daily says that the Liverpool striker has been told that he must run for the team, work hard and not cause any trouble.

Should he fail to meet these obligations, Conte has informed Buffon and De Rossi that Balotelli will not be called for the Azzurri again, the newspaper believes.

Conte faced a number of questions in yesterday’s Press conference about why he had called the out-of-form striker up to his squad.
With all due respect to Buffon, I don't know why would Conte treat him, De Rossi and Balotelli unlike anybody else. Maybe Buffon as a Captain has a right to know, but why De Rossi?

Seniority. Both have been with the Azzurri for a long time and are the most influential players in the dressing room.
