That's because you think possession is controlling a game. Possession is just possession, if you do nothing with it or allow yourself to be picked off on a counter (for example as we did to Roma at home) then you are not in control of the game, you are just in control of the ball for large periods.
the problem is, when we are in possession of the ball, we don't create enough (goalscoring opportunities or scoring itself) and prone to counter, but yet when we are not in possession, we almost never able to properly counter and at the same time somehow always look like being constantly 'on the edge of abyss'... so we are in somewhat lose - lose situation...

this is evident since last season, people must be blind not to see this.

We're top of the league by 11 points (+1 game), have scored more goals than any other team (9 more than Roma), and Tevez is top of the Marcatori with 18 goals. We're second in possession with 56.2% (Roma 59.3%), we're first in shots on target, third in total shots.

Before we go back to the issue of Europe and you start mentioning Celtic again, be aware that you are talking about something subjective and preferential.

It's about scoring a heap of goals every now and then.
No, it's really not. That's just your preference.

You are really clutching at straws. It isn't about what you prefer. Currently, the team are dominating the league, and on course for a 3'rd consecutive title.

I shall be the first to jump aboard your bandwagon of doom if we fail to qualify from our CL group and finish 3'rd in the league next season.

I dare say we are on top due to luck, some may say that you don't get lucky for the whole season but unfortunately that is not what I (and so you should) saw... let's rewind back to the start of the season, we should've lost to chievo already and in the next games we were at least once lucky to win with a goal that proceeded with a handball (I don't remember which game but I remember the incident, we were quite dreadful in that game), so that were +5 points already from what we should've gotten from those 2 games, and I'm sure there were more than just that 2 games... fast forward a bit to this start of the year 2014 there were many games like against milan, chievo and fiorentina in which we were too lucky to get maximum points from what should've been at least 2 draws.

if you count those 5 games alone, that already quite enough to equalize our points difference with roma, and this is just talking about league points when in actuality the problem run far deeper than that... but let's just leave the dead horse and remember the most important point :

we all know we were capable of playing good or even great (dare I say even with at the standard EPL/La liga fans would've thought), this was proven at 11/12 campaign, and most importantly proven again when we faced madrid... yet despite all of that, 95% we are playing badly....

if that isn't a concern then why the fuck many of you dare talking about zidane or alex's genius... you should've more in love with inzaghi's effectiveness...

thinking at the broader sense, this style of football will hardly increase the club prestige toward the neutrals, definitely not when some international commentators no matter how clueless and biased are they mocks juve because in their eyes we just look clumsy, remember the league is in deepshit image and all those unfortunate bad image this club has been associated over the years, it's just not helpful when we keep playing ugly and having underwhelming performance in more 'prestigious' international competitions where other fans/neutrals are seeing, why does this matter because no matter what, we are in dire need of money that came from prestige and image that can be helped with the way we played football... look at barca, for decades they were quite the inter merda of la liga (losers) then suddenly boom they became famous partly due to tiki taka.

and no lol before someone menioned of the past, the 83-85 team, 96-98 team and 2003 team while weren't revolutionize the world with tiki taka or such, they didn't play with such current fugly display of football (heck even the crippled 99 team that spectacularly lost to united played good) ... in fact there is startling resemblance the current team has with capello's team that I know many of us not really fond with mainly due to the similar underwhelming performance in europe with similarly fugly football.

I get it, you want us to play nice football.
I dont think he means playing "joga bonito" just for the sake of it, but the fact that with superb players, we struggle sooo much to impose our football. And talking about our football, i dont know what football we utilize nowadays.

We seem to rely totally on our physique and when that fails..all our pieces crumble.

Im not asking for Barca tiki taka..but we definitely need more players to make things happen. Most importantly..we need to play as a cohesion, as a team.

Right now, we rely on certain circumstances to arrive and wish that something happens.... to the contrary of carefully elaborated plays, with talent and skill.

I dont wanna use the word "luck" because we are not in first place just by plain luck. Our players have worked hard for that, but sometimes we are left with a question mark on how we did that witht he amount of bad displays we have shown this season.

Maybe the CL failure has more to it than just the "Bonucci,Buffon and Isla" blunders.

I dont wanna b negative but i think this thing will go deeper than this... and that doesnt mean it will be good.

Still, ill wait the mercato and see what our plans are. With our current team, i know that there are a lot of things that will not get fixed...so all we can do is wait to see what the BoD have in mind.

Ill not try to hide the sun with a finger. There are issues.

Thinking somewhat along the lines. With players at his disposal Conte has done extremely well in the last 3 years. We've witnessed incredible progress, from team that leaked goals right and left, consecutive 7th place finishes, season without Europe as a result of the previous, to a respectable European side and the one that most Serie A clubs find it difficult to cope with. But in elite European competition, CL more exact, we'll need something extra to succeed. Current, at times endless exchange of passes between Bonucci, Chiellini and Barzagli needs to be reduced to a minimum, we can't rely on 36 yo Pirlo and his moments of ingenuity (with each passing year there will be less of these, unfortunately), WBs aren't capable of providing the team with enough width and often we've seen these two getting pinned back, especially in longer periods without possession and lastly we need to have tools to effectively counter. It might be interesting mercato ahead of us and evidently family will have to reach deep into their pockets, or make sacrifices in the current squad in order to make general improvements. Selling Pogba for huge amount, or better yet getting the right players in sort of exchange deal might be solution for some of the issues we're facing, or are yet to face. One thing is sure, we cannot let complacency prevail in our team and after 3 years of winning it is something BoD need to be aware of.

we have a better team than athletico Madrid except in the leftback and cetreforward position but athletico are really showing potential and we are in the Europa league. style of play ,formation and mentality is the key to Europe and conte needs to learn that.

I can't believe you just said that. Let me aware you on the truth: we have a better team than athletico Madrid except in the leftback and cetreforward position but athletico are really showing potential and we are in the Europa league. style of play ,formation and mentality is the key to Europe and conte needs to learn that.
