Capello though, was an absolute failure in the CL for us. Those humiliating back to back CL exits (considering the squad he had at his disposal) were and still are unforgivable. Such a stubborn and inflexible coach. I used to fall asleep watching our games back then. Capello, as much as he was a success in Serie A, and a far better coach for other teams, pissed me off with his boring and uninspiring style of play.

He did, he criticised his methods in punishing the players for the Verona result. Before that were the comments about the league being easy and harming the team in Europe.

Capello has been saying various things as a observer in the last 3 months, some very positive of Conte, some backward compliments, Conte obviously took this one as a negative.

Thing is, anyone with a Juve past would've probably made an observation and spoken about the team after such a poor showing. It just so happened to be Capello, who is not always the most diplomatic. I agreed with some of the stuff he said, and I wouldn't entirely discredit that it may have been silly to cancel a rest day. I personally didn't see it as a criticism but one could argue that it wasn't his place to make that comment, because this is another coach's team and he's entitled to do whatever he has to, to produce results. This whole episode in reality is a bit blown out of proportion, and I think the media created it, the minute they started headlining the cancelled rest day.

Although, Conte's retort may have been slightly immature, because I think he took it personally, and I dont think it was meant to be personal. But there again, even though he said more than he should have, I agreed with him about Capello's regime. Even when you compare the two, it's already evident, so early in his career (as unfair a comparison is, at this point) that Conte is a more adaptable coach, and that's testament to him having a higher ceiling than Capello and if his career takes him to big club's with bigger budgets, even more so.
