Exactly. But they are definitely more suited for a wingback role than an attacking winger role. Licht is one of the best at playing wing back in the world.
Individual mistakes lately starting from Buffon, Bonucci and Chiellini. He could have fielded 6 defenders but situations like the ones we've seen in the last few games still could have happened. I blame him for his gradual introduction of more defensive minded players in our tactical setup. We need something little more upfront.
Tevez would be wasted there really, which I assume is the thinking for both coach and player (I know he likes playing CF). He could balance it out, much like Ribery or Pedro do for their teams, but I'd rather him CF with Pepe-Vucinic wide.
But from time to time it would work. I'm not advocating for a complete switch to 4-3-3 because we don't have the personnel for it but the lack of creativity is pathetic. There is nobody on the field who can dribble past his man besides Tevez which basically makes us a very easy team to defend against.
I'm tired of seeing an excellent CM like Asamoah asked to try to dribble past a defender as if he was an offensive player, or Isla and Lichtsteiner never beating their man because they are essentially defenders asked to play as wingers.
Its not conte's fault that buffon is decaying and bonucci had brainfarts.
Approaching more defensive in europe is generally a good thign
starting slow to get settled then press is okay.
thing is, the way we settle, its like with a wife house and kids. We needa bit more aggression. and luck
We dont have wingbacks that can dribble past their opponents.
Licht is good at running behind the defence, and asamoah at the defence, but none are good at running trough it.
Asa usuallybursts past and crosses or cuts back. fine but thats not dribbeling. Dribbeling would be actually taking on your man 1v1 and get past and shoot

So, usually in football lately teams usually play 4-2-3-1 which means 4 offensive players (2 wingers, 1 trequartista and 1 striker).
In our version of the 3-5-2, we use only 2 offensively skilled players in Tevez + whatever striker Conte decides to use.
Switching to 4-3-3 would give us 1 more offensive player, we'd still have 7 players willing to do the work on defence. We're not even asking Conte to use the usual 4-3-3 where you use a trequartista/offensive midfielder as the 3rd midfielder. He can use a defensive work horse in Asamoah there if he wants to, no issues.
But Conte's version of 4-3-3 is not about using creative wingers but really a work horse like Pepe on both sides who is known for his defence and not his offence. That would basically mean taking out a creative player like Vucinic and replacing him with a work horse like Pepe. Basically, Conte's version of 4-3-3 with Pepe offers even less offence than the 3-5-2 we're using today.
Conte's 4-3-3 is very close to mourinho's. Mou demands that his wingers track back and defend unless they are beasts upfront a la CR7. Hazard has been suffering under Mou because of it and thats the reason for his dip in form.

Approaching any game defensively is never a good thing. It is always negative. Also we didnt not approach defensively, it was far from a defensive game

We used to play with Camoranesi and Nedved as wingers behind DP and Trezeguet. Don't forget Zambrotta who played as LB, but most of the time he spent on opponents half. Now we have only 2 forwards supported with bunch of defensive mids and so called WBs. Not enough attacking threat in the final 3rd imho.
I agree. Why do you want to use him as an attacking winger then? That's be as weird as madrid playing Marcelo and Arbeloa as wingers. Defenders would laugh before they went in for a tackle on any of them.

Would Asa be able to play LB in a 4-3-3? He can't dribble, but with a men in front of him he can go over him and you get the 2 vs 1 situation. The LW can cut inside the box or pass it to Asa. In our 3-5-2 our LWB dont have that support to create a 2vs1 situation. Exactly same situation at the RB, but the big question: who can play at the RW at the moment?

Yeah it would, although we are never desperately chasing a game. We might feel desperate as fans, but no one really smashes us or looks to be dominating us. We are largely in control of our destiny, but seem to be making some shocking errors.
Wanting a more entertaining team is another thing for me. I think we are doing (just) enough in a lot of games. Both this formation and the players individually can give a lot more.
We have to have something other than 3-5-2. If you don't have wingers you can still use something like a 4-1-2-1-2 which will create space for our fullbacks to get forward and have time to set up crosses.

No one disagrees with that. We need another world class striker and at least a more offensive LWB than Asa now that most teams park the bus against us.
The debate here is that some people here want us to play these defensive wingbacks as attacking wingers in a 4-3-3. To me that would be a complete disaster. Opposition defenders would laugh at our pathetic attack.
Others want us to play giovinco, Vucinic and Tevez on the wings and llorente in the middle. But that would leave us without a bench.

He hasn't introduced any new defensive minded players into the setup, it's all similar to last season and the closing half of 2011/12. Unless you're going to go back to when Juve last used 4-3-3 on a regular basis, but in between then and now Juve has had stronger results with the 3-5-2 than it ever did with a 4-3-3.
And individual mistakes are up to Conte to resolve as well, if he notices a player messing up he's the one to do something. I anticipate ("desperately hope") Isla benched for a while.
