You can interpret it in other ways also.It could also just be that he is playing the realistic card here and indirectly sending a message to the board that we need much more quality in the team especially in attack if we really intend to challenge for the CL crown.

Then i really dont think he would make such defeatist statements. He is a champion himself and i really think there's some purpose in him making such comments.

Maybe it's a message from him to the board like you're saying but if so it's not good. Our board know very well what's going on they're not blind. It's obvious we need reinforcements in attack. Once we had attack containing stars like Zidane, Del Piero, Trezeguet, Inzaghi, Vialli, Ravanelli, Nedved, Camoranesi and so on. For example Nedved as part of our board has been pushing for players like Shaqiri, Balotelli and Ibra if we're to believe various reports.

Imo getting a classy attacker will make it only halfway through for the club. I'm sure we won't buy a world class game changer and it means Conte WILL HAVE TO change tactics if we want to become more competitive in Europe. I mean there's not many forwards that would make our 3-5-2 work better than it does right now. Those who would improve our attack in this formation significantly are out of our reach.

So there's a lot of work to do for Conte despite our attacking problems. He should consider dropping one defender or midfielder for a trequartista/attacking winger type of player because relying only on SS is our main problem despite the fact we have not many options in attack. We need to control the ball better, focus on keeping possession and use pressing more. If we don't improve these aspects even new forward won't solve our problems.

If teams like Porto, Marseille, Dortmund, Liverpool can pull out CL's, it's not an impossible dream. Hell, even with our super dynasty, we only won 1, so you don't go throwing away opportunities when they present themselves because you don't have Real Madrid's roster.

OM's team was extremely awesome , Dormund's CL was a fluke and so was liverpool's

As for Porto - well they had Mourihno ...

Sounds more like something a fan would be thinking right now. The market doesn't open until the summer, so a coach is only going to be thinking about things he can actually affect.

With the exception of their strikers -- because Portuguese strikers suck -- Porto was also heavily rooted in the Portuguese NT side that made it to the Euro Cup Final five weeks later. They were no slouch team.

I wouldn't be too harsh on the team if we get eliminated - the coach is right, we've done extraordinary things. Look at dortmund's first season back in CL, and they're only better now. these things take time. either way I am proud of how Juve have progressed and to lose to this Bayern team is no shame.

Having said that, I don't think Conte will take a beating so easily - despite whatever's said, I am sure Juve will fight it out there at JS, whatever the outcome.
