He got his tactics spot on today. Apart from starting Boriello, he did just about everything right. But because of that one mistake, we looked toothless in the first half. The problem with Boriello is that he even made Vucinic look bad. Boriello for Quags was a no brainer, but he did the right thing introducing Caceras for the ineffective Lich. Overall a really good game, would have been exceptional if he didn't start Boriello.

That was a halftime comment. We finished the half on our heals, and it was more of a philosophical point. My opinion being that we're playing at home, and ideally we should be playing our best players and trying to dictate the terms of the match.

I do believe that the 4-3-3 generally allows our midfield to express itself better - I don't have a formation fetish; the switch to the 3-5-2 last week obviously had great results.

The midfield played quite well today, particularly once Napoli started to stretch out after our early (and fairly lucky) set piece goal in the second half. That was a massive turning point.

Clearly I want the victory above all else - always. I also believe that at this point we shouldn't be afraid to lose, either. We're playing for wins right now - not just to preserve the unbeaten streak. We've got ground to make up, we can definitely still win the Scudetto.

I trust and love Conte, he's done a great job. He sees the guys in training all week, and just because I disagree with something obviously doesn't mean things won't work out. It's just an opinion. If he is going to play the 3-5-2 from the start though, he should glue Boriello's ass to the stands, and Caceres should also probably be starting @ RWB.

In a tactic where a player with good jumping ability was needed, and a player who can hold on to the ball, Borrielo was the perfect choice for Conte. Matri is great, but when it comes to controlling the ball, shielding it, Borriello does it better, and thats why Conte played him. Borrielo wasnt expected to score tonight, im 100% sure of it, and that his role was simply to catch those long crosses, and then pass the ball. I completely understand why Conte chooses Borrielo, and im not angry...what i am angry about is that many itallian teams havent gone past those tall, bad first touch, slow, great heading and jumping, Luca TOni-ish, Matri-ish kind of attackers....it is anoying....

let's put aside the victory and all, who conte has the 1st laur...but why do we need to play him or to play with long balls? every time de cegle had the ball on the left he started crossing it though marchisio came to one-two's...we scored a lot of goals by keeping the ball down and pass the opposite defence. it's true that in the 2nd half del piero or quag wouldn't made any difference just because napoli kept defending and they did it well, at 2-0 they were very open.

I think subbing Licht for Caceres was more because Licht had a yellow card already.
Lichtsteiner was doing a fine job IMO, and so was Caceres. So everything was good still.

I totally understand and agree with you, I just had a bad day and the only thing I saw was "Fuck this 3-5-2" in your post. After I replied I read your post again carefully and saw that I missed the point totally, hence the edit.
