i think people just need to chill the f*ck out and take a step back for a bit and bring themselves to the reality that in terms of quality we are not at the level of Milan, but we need to remember that despite a few bad results you can't expect a miracle. We are far from the finished article but the signs are still promising. Sure as hell still looks different to the Juventus of the last 2 seasons and there are a lot of positives to take from this season so far, it is only a shame that many only judge Juve from 1 week to the next and not look at the over all picture.
Great post. I agree completely.

It's not defeatist, Ahmed, it's just being realistic.

I know that the people who actually believe that our team can win the scudetto are hurting today.

We're Juventus and winning the scudetto should definitely be our aim.

But sometimes we just have to realize where things stand.

I think we missed QuG and An Elia kind of player today. We are going to dip at some point, and we are notoriously slow in Jan. I was encouraged to see him make changes with 25 mins on the clock. Nut again, to extremes. Krasic had no bizness being ere ahead of Elia given that he isn't in our plans. Matri maybe would've continued to offer more than Boreiello who was thrown into the deep end. I liked how we pressed in e last fifteen minutes, but we are surprisingly lazy off late and we allowed them back into the game. Also we are very clearly missing a game changer in this team. Somebody who can complement Pirlo in the final third. But no, instead of Tevez, Marrotta is happy with Boriello so be it. Anyway, let's not overreact to ight, everyones gotta work up the momentum again, even if tonight felt more like a loss than a draw. Let's hope Inter put it over the line.

Conte: 'A Juve reminder'
By Football Italia staff

Antonio Conte feels Cagliari gave Juventus a timely reminder. “We have to suffer and fight to the very end.”

The Bianconeri were expected to run away with this afternoon’s match, but were held to a surprise 1-1 home draw.

“I think the game immediately started well for us, as we were in the lead and playing good football with many chances to finish it off,” said Conte.

“After the break we conceded straight away and that goal made us freeze up. We improved later, but were unable to take our scoring opportunities.

“I tried to introduce fresh legs in attack, but the final blow just didn’t come. I am not satisfied with the result, as we must be intelligent enough to improve on negatives and continue this campaign that is above our expectations.

“After 18 games unbeaten, it is acceptable to draw against Cagliari. I don’t think my men were arrogant, as they fought hard for the result.

“It was a good reminder that we have to suffer and fight to the very end in every game from here to the last one in the season.”

Juventus are one point clear at the top of the table awaiting tonight’s Milan-Inter showdown.

“It’s a shame to be sitting down watching the derby with only a draw under our belts. May the best team win.”

Well, he said acceptable. It's like saying, "you can't expect to win every game" or something. Which is true.

He also said in the same interview that he's not happy about the result, and that it's a shame to watch the derby only having drawn.

Conte is a winner, and no one should need reminding of that.

so milan are expected to smash teams like bologna but they didn't. are they defeatist too?
its not about the Scudetto, I don't believe in saying 'oh we have to be realistic about this team' when its just not true.

we should have torn them apart and just did not perform well enough on the day.

I won't agree to the suggestion that this team is shit, it isn't.

The look on his face at the sidelines today reminded me of Del Neri, the "which way did he go look of Ranieri" and the stupid look of Zaccherroni. He simply looked defeated, clueless and willing to accept whatever result. He then confirmed it by this ignorant statement that being undefeated then it's ok to draw against Cagliari.

I was always against his arrival yet he turned out to be a pleasant surprise, his man management is without a doubt top notch but his tactical weaknesses are simply exposed game by game. He lacks variation and most obviously is that he lacks balls to try to attack and do something new.

I would say the past two performances have striking similarities to last season in terms of mentality with a marginally improved squad. The signs have been better this season but that doesn't mean they've all been good up to now. I've noticed many worrying signs since the beginning of the season most notably our lack of creativity up forward, our missing left back, Bonnucci and our reliance on Pirlo but its easy to ignore them when you're winning or maybe a better way of putting it is not losing.

Now that fatigue is setting in the fighting spirit is beginning to fade. Usually that would be where the quality of the squad comes in but we lack that in a number of key positions and our bench players for those positions are even worse. This is the result of wasteful markets by Marotta. Elia, Giacherrini, Estigarribia, Borriello all painfully mediocre back ups for an already mediocre forward group.

Today just showed the diff between a team fighting for a top three finish and one wanting the scudetto. A scudetto contender would've had a result today.

Well, I didn't say that team was shit, Ahmed. I just said it wasn't good enough to win the title. There's a huge difference.

Anyway, I like that we're being so ambitious. And if the players believe they can win the title, there's nothing better than that. It could spur them on and will increase our chances of securing CL football.
