Didn't he say he was going to rotate the squad?
No he didn't. He said that "We now have a new problem of having to play three games in six days due to the postponements. We have five matches over two weeks, so I cannot live day by day. I have to plan the line-ups based on the form and fitness of my players."

God knows how did FI understand from these words that Conte will rotate against Siena.

Alen I believe it was some other statement where Conte said 'even if you score a brace there is no guarantee of a starting spot' or some crap like that.

He went for the long ball tactic with Borriello, which I don't think worked terribly badly, we created enough mayhem around the area but the ball didn't drop well and we missed aerial chances.

The passing game with the wide front three had limited success as our passing game was off. Del Piero would have been better than Vucinic but also kept the same style. Ultimately if you don't score you can say an attacking tactic is a failure.

Here's a better question,

Why is Alessandro Del Piero on the bench when he's not going to feature?
Yeah, just a waste of space on the bench to have three attackers there. Today we had 3 attackers + Storari, Marrone, Giacc and Bonucci. Not a single fullback. Instead of that we should have Caceres or DC on the bench while one of Borri, Quag and DP should be in the stands.

Since Conte obviously counts on Borri and Quag more, then he should simply send DP in the stands. But he won't do it so we will keep having no fullbacks or no CMs on the bench at the expense of having 3 strikers there.

Quag is brilliant in the air, if did want to play long ball.

and we had so much space in the final 20 mins, especially down the LW with DC and Giacchi.

If Pepe wasn't fit he didn't deserve a start. Vucinic absolutely shouldn't have been hurried back from his injury. And just when he was developing an understanding between Quag and Matri, he should've let it run and gone with it. Boriello should've never featured in this game. And certainly not as a replacement for Vucinic. Bad day at the office for the boss. The only upside I cam think off, is that 1 point and ga,e in hand will keep us more focussed on the games ahead.

“It was a great opportunity and we should’ve made more of this round that seemed favourable for us,” said the Coach.

“Unfortunately, we were unable to win, mainly thanks to a Siena side that defended very well. In the first half we were a little sluggish in terms of tempo and needed an individual moment of brilliance to break the deadlock.

“We’ve got to take it one game at a time, aware of our limitations and our defects.”

There was controversy in the final stages, as Giorgio Chiellini’s cross was charged down by Simone Vergassola’s arm.

“The video images are clear for all to see, so there’s no need for me to say anything. All it requires is the intellectual honesty of those who watch the footage.”

He can say that post game, and he can bring on Borriello in the match.

We started too slowly and possibly brought in too many players who weren't 100% (Vucinic, Marchisio and Pepe).

But we gained on all but Milan, just frustrating not to beat the smaller teams.

Game was crying out for Del Piero
