hm lets see

fergusson :

scottland : 2 horse race, nothing impressive
:howler:

Winning in a two horse race is not impressive if you are one of the two horses, but he broke that dominance for a few years. Something no-one has been able to do since.

Also, he did not only have success in Scotland. He made Aberdeen one of the best teams in Europe.

I don't see how someone can praise what Mourinho did at Porto, but be dismissive of what Ferguson did at Aberdeen.

So?

Ferguson went to Man Utd and it's pretty hard to move up from there.
I was agreeing with you, what Ferguson did with Aberdeen was more impressive then Mourinho's achievements at Porto IMO. Ferguson went to united when they were struggling and made them a world class team, whereas Mourinho went to Chelsea when the money was flowing and they were already challenging for honours. Then it was Inter (money) and then Madird (mucho dinero), which proves that he's a mercenary. Ferguson on the other hand stayed with Man U season after season win or lose.

hes a mercenary because he wants to win titles in every major league?

how come he didn't move to a club in russia or manage a Kazakhstan that can throw him tons of money?

also stop mentioining money please when it comes to winning titles. ranieri couldn't win titles with money powered chelsea. the guy that coached madrid 2 seasons ago couldn't win a title with money powered madrid, and benitez couldn't win a title with inter with a money powered inter.

i understand you not liking a coach. but don't belittle his achievements, especially one like mourinho who has won a title in every team he has coached

I'm not bellittling his achievements, I just think that many of them have been aided by large amounts of money. I know that he's obviously a class above Benitez and Ranieri, but let's see him go to Valencia or a team of that standard with an average transfer budget and see how he gets on?

Porto?

If anyone, Mourinho should be the last coach to prove that. By the way, aside the money part, Chelsea was a Valencia standard team before Mourinho took over.

It probably is down to the fact that I just don't like the guy, but I've just got more respect for coaches who stick it out with a club, building year after year, showing loyalty that is. Then again, it is getting harder to find examples of this type of manager in the modern game.

But those coaches usually carry question marks on them, like Guardiola, for example.

It's funny how some Juve fans are rating Ferguson higher than Lippi. If anyone, a Juve fan should be convinced Lippi is a better manager.

In fact, Marcello Lippi is the best manager in recent history, having won literally EVERY FUCKING TROPHY. The only one who could battle Lippi, is another Italian, Fabio Capello.

Jose Mourinho, is on his way to be included, but not yet.
Who? I think it's Ferguson vs. Mourinho.

As far as Mourinho is concerned, I only hold his time at Porto and his time at Inter as anything worth credible, his time at Chelsea he had buckets loads of money and Utd were a very poor team in that era and Arsenal were on the way down after the Invincibles, alot of his signings were bollocks, Ranieri built the foundations for Mourinho's team, and got no credit for it whatsoever. Whatever he does at Madrid he has more or less an unlimited budget. He isn't in Lippi's, Trap's, Fergie's or Capello's level IMO.

Sir Alex Ferguson is a world class coach. All this BS about him having won those titles over the span of 25 years is utter BS; it only serves to cement his legacy, as he managed to stay consistent and deliver with different batches of players at the same club. It's much harder having to motivate a team to win titles after having been there for 7-8 years, as opposed to 2-3 years. The man has been with Man United for a quarter of a century, and before that he worked wonders with an unheralded Aberdeen outfit. It's arguable as to who the best really is, as different folks have different strokes, but to downplay the significance of SAF's achievements is downright laughable, ignorant, and reeking of amateurism.
