Serie a was by a long distance the best league in the world back then. He got numerous awards with sampdoria, who were an excellent team back then. He was brought to juve as the experienced defender, much like barzagli under conte's first season.

Rus, i think you have no idea how impressive serie a defenders were back then. Chiellini wouldnt be a starter in the top 5 of the league. The fact that he now is top5 centre back in the world, tells alot about how much decline there has been of defensive quality

Are you satisfied with anything this club has ever done, and with anything it's currently doing?
They ruined last season scudetto with releasing Del Piero, the reason why they did that is behind the closed doors yet, i hope that someday we will found out what's the real reason of this shit.
This season scudetto is fine and fully deserved and yet Conte is bitching and crying like he was born only yesterday and he don't know that life in Italy is bad now, football clubs can't spend big, that fans are crazy, that Juventus is the most hated team in the league etc.

Zacheryah is right here. Defenders were way more intelligent back in the days, today its more about physical qualities. Giorgio is actually rather mediocre on a historic scale.
Bonucci wouldn't have been even on the bench for Juventus 96. And Del Piero then was top of the world, the Messi-ah of his time. You can see what Messi does for a rather superb Barcelona team anyway.

That's why he only scored 13 goals in all competitions in that season?

rus. you have not not watched a single game of juve pre 2000. you were either too young or not born yet.

leave the talking about this matter to the actual level 99 experts, not the pretenders like you.

Chiellini would not have started in any of the top 3 teams in the italian serie a from 1988 till 1998.

Nesta would. At 35 he kept an in form messi at bay while not parking the bus.

i would trade this entire juventus side for 96 del piero

real talk
I would trade the entire team and sell the stadium to the city for him.

Then i would get him some VERY close monitoring so he doesnt get that horrorinjury, remains that impossibly talented player, and see us win like 5 cls in 8 years.

People who watched del piero 1995-1998 know what i'm talking about

Man I swear it - Del Piero back then was so fucking good that (maybe its bias) I think he was the best player there ever was. Baggio was kicked out because of a boy... I mean this fact alone should be enough for a football expert lvl.1 to understand what we are talking about. Nevermind about actually seeing Del Piero or Juventus back then.
If one doesn't know who Baggio is and what a player he was 96 ... :sergio: :D

Only ten rofl-symbols, RUS? Why so few?

At least use 15 and make it a proper argument.

This.

The power of stats. RUS is taking it to a whole new level... Doubting 90's Del Piero!
Lol i'm not saying that he was bad, he was vital in CL, but we lost scudetto to milan in 96, don't fucking forget it

Top scorers Serie A 95/96

24 goals
Igor Protti (Bari)
Giuseppe Signori (Lazio)
22 goals
Enrico Chiesa (Sampdoria)
19 goals
Gabriel Batistuta (Fiorentina)
Marco Branca (Roma / Internazionale)
17 goals
Oliver Bierhoff (Udinese)
16 goals
Luis Oliveira (Cagliari)
14 goals
Nicola Amoruso (Padova)
Nicola Caccia (Piacenza)

rus:

Deschamps alone is worth this entire juve mid. all of our fowards combined could not even come close to 50% of Ravanelli.

only Vidal, buffon, and maybe pirlo would have any chance of being in the first 11. Barzagli, Chiellini and Pogba would be nech players

He's no Cannavaro or Nesta but let's not exaggerate.
Oh just look up the defences and you'll see.

god, those were times.

and what attackers this world had back then ...

You talk of messi, of CR7 ? Just watch how amazing nesta was, and then see how 90ties ronaldo shames him with a perfect elastico at the byline, caged by 3 defenders and still getting out.

Oh man, how the level of current day footballers is a joke
