One question, do you think he will be remotely close to Juve job as a coach, if he wasnt a former Juve player?
Nope. I said it before. The only thing about Conte I like, is his character. That's it. A football manager is much more than that.

If you think that is some remarkable accomplishment then perhaps you should take some time to reassess your achievements hierarchy
I DO NOT want Conte here. I was only talking about the charisma he got, I'm sure Cosmi has a charisma as well, Mourinho too.

Whether it's Conte or anybody else, what I hope the new coach does is address the incongruence between work ethic and aspirations. We cannot set Scudetto ambitions when we have a mid-table team putting mid-table effort. Because what tends to happen in those circumstances is that once the ambition is dealt severe blows (in our case usually around January), the team goes into free-fall. The ambition to win the Scudetto must be met with the required hard work on and off the pitch. Unfortunately, the Mottas of this team think that they can dream of Scudetto just by wearing black and white, rather than by working their asses off to improve, and give all to the team.

Michelangelo Rampulla- "When Antonio played, he was already a coach on the pitch. He's demonstrated a winning mentality as a coach, too."

This little positive feeling and vibe for seeing Conte as our new coach is unfurtunately down to love for Conte the player. Didn't he screw up with Atalanta last season? I remember we even defeated them 5 something..

Antonio Conte in November 2008: "Juve is always the objective. I need time, luck, and results. If I don't reach the top levels in 3-4 years, I'll stop coaching."

Federico Ferri- "It's done, Conte is the new Juve coach, all that remains is his signing. Beppe Marotta and Paratici met him and were impressed."

"Of course Conte did not need to convince Andrea Agnelli, who knows him well."

"Juve briefly spoke with Mancini 9 days ago, and did speak with Villas Boa, the first discussion did not go well."

"Marotta's first choice was Spalletti. Agnelli's was to keep Delneri. Both liked Villas Boas but the discussion went badly"

    Can you imagine that discussion?

VB - Give me Fernando, Rolando and Aguero.
Marotta - You can have Pazienza, Marco Motta and Floro Flores.
VB - No thanks. I hope you'll at least pick up the tab on dinner.
Marotta - It was a loan with an option. Go force yourself to vomit.

    Absolutely.

Then again, can you guys imagine how big the problem is and how much in this team is rotten, from top to bottom, when guys who give minimum effort (like Motta) are always getting to play and we never see strong reaction from our coach and management about the lack of effort shown?
Some empty words here and there (like Agnelli after this last round) but nothing concrete. One could get the impression that our guys are working brilliantly in trainings because they're never punished for lack of effort and workrate. Mourinho is punishing his players left and right if they fail to do everything he tells them to do in training or during official matches, but not our guys. Our guys are working their asses off and deserve to start every single match aas a reward for their effort.

And why would the players bother that much at all? When they don't feel a strong hand, when they see that both the coach and the directors are giving them a free pass despite the pathetic performances and lack of running, why should they bother to work harder than it's required of them?
That goes for every field in life.

Badly? How bad can a first discussion be? Villas Boas obviously overheard Marrotta talking about his loaned suit, before he heard anyone else in the room. :D

Alen&JuventinMalti: Indeed, its rather pathetic, Toni says some of the similar stuff (and while I'm typing, the FI site is streaming Nedved interview where he is talking how bad the team lacks character, will, unity etc. What is this, have they gone on full collective campaign to state the obvious?):

““We need great champions,” said the striker. “Players of quality who can take Juventus back to the top.”

It was a poor game, but not because we were lacking in motivation. We wanted to do well, but we weren’t able to.

“We wanted to reach fourth place in the table and now, instead, we probably won’t be able to play in the Europa League either.

“We should improve and therefore will need important reinforcements to be able to do so.”

I refuse to believe we actually spoke to Villas Boas...maybe an inquiry at most. They never seemed seriously interested in him at all...instead they have been fapping over CONTE FFS!!! This is shaping up to be Ferrara all over again...new unproven coach with Juve past, nice-looking moves on the transfer market and a lot of big talk...but what happens if you give a rookie driver a Ferrari to race? Yep, he'll probably wreck it!
