I agree with you in giving the guy a chance if he is truly the coach. But his resume is far from impressive, if you ask me. Granted, he has led Bari and Siena back to Serie A. However, his short tenure at Atalanta while in Serie A was an unmitigated disaster.

My personal choice has always been Villas Boas from the beginning. Despite his young age, he has 17 years of experience. His preparation and scouting cannot be questioned. This would send a message to the Juventus faithful that they are forward thinking.

This just smacks of more of the same to me.

This is the guy I want to be the next caoch of Juventus for the next decade, if possible. This is the type of talent in the coaching ranks that you get now and allow him to build a dynasty again.

Maybe because he knows that in Porto the moment he creates a good team, half of those players will be sold in the summer and he'll have to start all over again, while the richer Juve can allow him to create a team and use it for much longer, adding new pieces to the team from time to time. Hypothetically speaking, of course.
In reality he can do that in many other big teams, where he'll have both bigger budget and more chances to succeed.

Because being a legendary coach at Porto is vastly different to being a legendary coach at Juventus.

Most of the time that will happen. However, an important part of being a coach is being a true leader, and instilling a confidence and attitude to your team. I don't know if Conte can instill that type of persona on this team. Yes, he's a fiery individual, but those who speak loudest don't always make the best leaders of men.
