I've read today that Ogbonna and Pogba will start instead of Marchisio and Bonucci.

Btw his passing is better than Bonucci's.
If you keep repeating it, it doesn't make it a fact.

Wouldn't Ogbonna make one hell of a left back? Defensive he'd have world class skills, he's got good passing and he know how to make use of his physique when dribbling up the field.. Potentially a world class LB IMO

I only said what I read in an article. Atm chances are he'll start.

As for passing it's a fact. He had higher percentage of completed passes last year.

Chiellini probably had a higher pass completion rate than Bonucci, too, but that is only because Bonucci is asked to be far more ambitious in his passing than defenders typically are.

Ogbonna has a good left foot and often tried long passes last year. Torino's playing style required it. They would skip the mid play now and then.

Ogbonna is simply better in this department. I won't even mention concentration or positioning. It wouldn't be fair to Bonucci. Huge gap there.

He had 2 injuries iirc but he played very well when fit. Magical left foot, good positioning, concentration, physical presence, decent tackling. It would need a miracle for Bonucci to hold onto his position by the end of season.

I feel much safer defensively with Ogbonna instead of Bonucci. No question for me there.

Ogbonna looks a quality player. Whether he dislodges BonBon, Chiello, or even Barza from the starting lineup is another matter entirely. In the end, if it makes us a stronger and better team, I am all for it.

He could also potentially replace Asamoah because of his world class potential.

Try harder. In any case, I don't think Ogbonha would do a good job @ LB. His passing ability and physical prowess require him to be deployed in the center of defense. Perhaps he could become a mainstay of our back-line once Barza retires in a couple of years.

Though Ogbonna isn't a natural replacement for Barza. We may shift Bonnucci to the right, or even play Licht instead of Barza. Anyway, I do think Ogbonna is potentially a better player than Bonnucci, and this season will give us a few answers.

Yeah.. Ogbonna is just that kind of attacking wingback type... Imagine if he was playing as a fullback and told to defend instead of attacking - he would be horrible and it would be such a fkn stupid lineup where all opposition teams would score against us.

barzagli injured we have 2 options:

1. shift bonucci to the right

bonucci ogbonna chiellini

2. play the "in form" caceres (he was really good in pre season)

caceres bonucci chiellini

I hope we don't shift Licht, he really isn't suited to be a CB.

I don't get why people think a left-footed CB can't play on the right when right-footed CBs always play on the left.

We had Caceres playing LCB for some games last season and he's not even a natural CB like Ogbonna. I can't see Bonucci working out well as a Barzagli replacement because his game is not to man mark and win physical battles. That suits Ogbonna much much better.
