The Sensation has a more powerful processor so it will obviously run smoother. It even has a more polished yet more fancy interface. About the battery life, just don't bother, there isn't any smart phone out there that has a decent battery life no matter what the reviews say.

It seems like there hasn't been much improvement in battery life relative to screen resolutions, better cameras etc. for these smart phones. Cheers for the advice, I'll probably get it in a few weeks. Expect me back here asking more questions the Sensation will be a big leap from the Nokia E71 I've got right now

Wildfire is not so bad, better battery life than the bigger ones.

I've had the chance to use both phones, I'd say go for the Defy. The screen on the Wildfire is quite bad. The Defy has a pretty good battery life too, comparable to the wildfire's.
