I can't make fastboot work on my Linux machine even if my life depended on it sucks to get stuck.

The only problem is that he will be stuck with it for two years. I did that with my Magic but when I got my subscrioption it was the best device in the market. Hero came two weeks afterwards then came many others wirth a much better Android release.

Machine-wise the Magic is still great but I am still stuck with 1.5 because I can't be bothered change the ROM "illegally".

man i got lucky,i bit the bullet,took the plunge and got my HTC Hero last year,it was a great wee phone until about 3 months after i got it on a 2 year plan. rcently i had a problem with it and took it in for repair (need to stop dropping the damned thing) and was wonderfully informed that i can get a new phone in January.

When you open the virtual keyboard there is a button, the next one from the bottom left, it is round and looks like a gear. Open it and find your way there. Sound feedback I think it is called.

Try this... Settings>Keyboard and Language>Touch Input>Text Input>Sound Feedback.

@Jack: Yeah, I got a Sense based ROM, but I like the LaucherPro homescreen cos it's more functional and gives a few more options than Sense. I can live without the widgets that Sense has to offer though.

@Boz: Oh, I thought they gave you a free upgrade. I didn't think they'd still have Heroes in stock. How long do you plan to stick with it?

i got it last year,they will upgrade me in a few weeks time,so a waste of time me getting all my apps reinstated but they did give me a system update

I haven't used or seen the phone, but going by Dru's comments, it lives up to its name!

I can still install apps not in the market via sdcard without rooting right? a little scared of rooting as I would rather get updates pushed from t-mobile
