Its inevitable

This whole Droid brand is going to be the end of them. HTC, SE, Lenovo and even Samsung are out-producing and outselling Moto in terms of Android devices.

    Sheik. :D

Guys, Desire or Galaxy S? In case I win a lottery or something. :D
Damn what a question. I am torn between these two as well but I don't have to take a decision before February I just learned. My subscription is out in June but in February I can break it for a new one, hopefully by then either I would have decided which one or something better is out on the market.

But I think the better comparison is between Galaxy S and Desrie HD not the normal Desire. Dontcha agree Sheik?

I think the Desire HD vs. Sprint Evo 4G is the best comparison. But yeah, SGS and Desire HD are pretty close.

If you're gonna wait till Feb, Jack, then you should get the Desire HD, unless you want a QWERTY keyboard, in which case, you should go for the Desire Z. The Sense UI and cloud capabilities on these phones are better than the original Desire.

Naah, I don't want keyboards, touch screens are the way to go. I am actually interested in seeing another UI, not that I got bored of Sense but I want to see how other manufacturers are working.

With the short hands-on I had with the SGS, I didn't really like their TouchWiz UI or whatever they call it. Not sure if you'll like it too. But nowadays I use LauncherPro home screen, and I love it. You should probably try it on your phone. Lots of things to customize.

I am still hesitant to do anything with my phone, I need a bit of courage and some reading. Now that I am at home with the baby I have some time but I need a real kick ass guide on what to do.

Teh XDA Developers Forum is all you need. And if you want cracked paid apps, go to Blackdroid.net and visit their forums. Great place.

If I get the time and if I can get over my laziness, I might get the Desire this weekend.
Has anyone used the Dell Streak?

Steve Wozniak: Android will be the dominant smartphone platform

Apple co-founder, Steve Wozniak, has never been one to mince words. Today's no different as demonstrated in an interview with the Dutch-language De Telegraaf newspaper in The Netherlands. The first revelation is an admission that Apple had collaborated with a well-known Japanese consumer electronics company in 2004 to develop a phone that was ahead of its time. Woz is quoted as saying that while Apple was content with the quality, it "wanted something that could amaze the world." Obviously, the phone was shelved followed by Apple's announcement of the iPhone in January 2007.

Woz then moved on to the topic of Android saying that Android smartphones, not the iPhone, would become dominant, noting that the Google OS is likely to win the race similarly to the way that Windows ultimately dominated the PC world. Woz stressed that the iPhone, "Has very few weak points. There aren't any real complaints and problems. In terms of quality, the iPhone is leading." However, he then conceded that, "Android phones have more features," and offer more choice for more people. Eventually, he thinks that Android quality, consistency, and user satisfaction will match iOS.

Steve closed the interview with a jab at Nokia calling it, "the brand from a previous generation" suggesting that the boys from Finland should introduce a new brand for a young consumer. Hmm, so we guess he'll be in line for the launch of the MeeGo-based N9 then?

    [Thanks, Nguyen T.]

Completely ignored this thread but I upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S for free, pretty nice handset.

Although I came across the common 'you need a gmail account login or Android Marketplace downloads hang at starting download' problem. I hadn't added any apps so it made no difference to factory reset it.

For those unaware of the problem, if you have a googlemail account make sure you change it to gmail first before you try to sync through Android because many times it has thrown a wobbly and won't download Android apps.
