Rannochia was better than Bonucci, none of them are great, but since we have to stick with the nationalistic approach in the center of defense, Rannochia is one of the best we can get at this age.
What happened in Inter really is completely irrelevant, even a Canna could fail there, they have a huge history of wasting players, esp Italians.
The are not as nationalists as we are, we will keep giving him shances, even after he starts flopping.
Just look what we did with Bonucci, had he been an Inter, he would be playing in serie B by now...

Bonucci and Rannochia are approaching the age, that CBs ussually bloom and even someone as incompetent as Legro, can be a Juve defender, in two ears from now they will both be Juve material and they are young enough to last for 5-7 more.

I really doubt we can any better than Rannochia and we really need a 4th CB, we cannot make yet another season in 3 competition we 3 players for 3 places.
Thats insane, we made this mistake this year and we all remember what happned during Chiellos injury...
It is of extreme importance to get one more dedicated CB and since we cant do anything better than that due to nationalistic reasons and Marotta's incompetence, lets go for it!
How come you still can't admit that you were blatantly wrong about Bonucci being a shit player (amongst other things that you have been blatantly wrong about)?

Admit whta exactly? History has already roved me right on Bonucci!
He still is our weakest link in the back three and still is our most mistake prone defender. Still our only CB that cant tackle and still the one with the most limited defensive qualities.
I never said that Bonucci will never become Juve material passer, what i always said is that he should not be our CB starter untill he reaches Juve material status, which imo, has yet to reach, as a defender.
So far, i was right about him and all the points we have lost from his brainfarts and incomptence still prove me right!
By the ge of 27-28 the CBs mature and reach their prime, up until the age of 33-35, this is when we should use him as a starter, when he would be ready.
We paid a crapload of cash, lost 3 players in those deals for a very reduced fee, we ought to have a player that would be ready to play at the highest levels, not someone we should be training for 4-6 years and paying dearly with points and titles for his mistakes during his maturing proccess.
This is what smaller teams do, the most competitive ones, use them on their prime.

For the ammount we gave, we could have bought a better defender. But our criteria were solely nationalistic, he was the second best available Italian CB in that age.
Still crappy though as Canna remarks in my signature!
Rannochia was the best, Inter got him cheaper and without losing and arm, a leg and Criscito (a player we have yet to find a proper replacement) in the process.
Now Rannochia comes with a cheaper price, he is closer to the age he will be a mature CB and we can afford to bench him, as we already have adept solutions, this transfers would make far more sense.

But it still is a compromise, this generation of Italian defenders, is the worst we have seen in the past decades, this is the only moment in our history, we should not choose with nationalistic criteria, but this is how it is and Rannochia is the lesser evil, if come at the right price.

Bonucci, for that ammount, at that age, was a terrible mistake!

Bonucci has proven you wrong this season Cronios. He was without doubt our best defender in our Champions League campaign this year.

When we bought him, the discussion was never about an X ammount of years after his purchase, but about the coming season and needs then.
We needed a CB starter, badly and we overpaid for an extremely mistake prone one, who was obviously not good enough for this level.
After 4-5 years and so many sacrifices, of course, one can have a half decent year.

I completely disagree that Bonucci this year was a better defender than Chiellini and Barza, Barza was by the best at ball intercepting and cutting down opposition, also performing man marking when needed and making some great last moment sliding tackles.
Bonucci was mostly remarked for his passing, rather than defending...

Debatable, but even then, as a player overall, mostly because of his contribution in passing, not defending...
Watch the Bayern matches again and come back. Barza was getting skinned while Bonucci was covering up for him.

Edit: Sorry Dusan :) I don't even know why I bother. I think I might open a new forum only for Cronios. He just likes to hear himself speak. Like my cats.
