It doesnt get any harder than managing a huge club and where players know you're an amateur and learning on the job. The leaders we had in the dressing room were just as big as him, if not bigger and without a doubt he needs a place where he can grow and learn, which im sure he will. Them 2 trophies gives him a good foundation to start somewhere where theres less pressure. Whether he makes it or not time will tell, one things for certain, it aint over just yet.

Some guy named Jordi Roura won La Liga with Barca as well. He was nowhere to be seen after that.
Let's not even mention Luis Enrique winning a treble with Barca. Where did he go from there? He's literally a nobody today.
Its nice that he won those two trophies but honestly it means little in the grand scheme of things.
This guy doesn't have the intensity of a Conte nor the tactical nous of an Allegri(atleast not yet). All he has some ideas which sounds fancy on paper but it obviously it takes a lot more than just ideas to successfully implement it in practice.
Let's see how his career goes but for some reason I think his hipster ideas are doomed to fail, atleast in Italy.

It was a really difficult season without any kind of preparation, too many injuries, too many players underperforming, too many games, ref were openly against us in many games. It makes everything more difficult. Maybe Pirlo wouldn't have made so many mistakes without all that, only future will tell

Luis Enrique quit for personal reasons, im sure he would have still been around. Wasnt bad but took the step 'up' from Barca to the national team, rather what should have been a step down IMO.

Roura spent 6 months at barca and only at an interim, spent most of his career as an assistant.

I do however agree about the intensity and tactical nous. He has much to learn, just feel that this was the worst place for him to do so, i just dont think his finished yet.

Nah man. Conte is the undisputed #1 factor in our resurgence.

I understand we hate the guy these days, but history cannot be tempered with.

Both were key, also the management for bringing Barza, Licht, Pirlo, Vidal, Vucinic. Conte was amazing, never gonna deny that, but would he have won the scudetto that year at Roma, Napoli, inter? I don't think so

Regardless of how he did with us, he has his first year of coaching experience and a couple of trophies. He also got an amazing performance at the Nou Camp, excellent wins over Inter, Lazio so I'd like to see him develop himself. Wish him the best.

Strange to see all the "you'll come back one day" posts. Pirlo's been such a trainwreck this season, I have serious doubts he'll make it all as a coach, let alone do well enough to get a 2nd shot at Juve. The competition for coaching gigs is cruel, currently he's in the same position as Ferrara and Stramaccioni ~a decade back. Ferrara after Juventus failure got 4 months at Sampdoria and that was it, he was done as a coach in Italian top flight. Stramaccioni got a season in Udinese and that was it for him as well, his career fizzled out in Greece, Czech Rep. and Iran.

This. Some things come with experience and although he will get better I'm skeptical that he will ever get good enough to have regular success at this level. The lack of organization and no hint of clear ideas except passing sideways and back might improve with time but some decisions he made really were baffling.
For example when the players had little to no clue what thier role and movements were and were still in process of learning he incorporated the hybrid and continued to do so creating a situation where the complexity outweighed it's benifits..if anyone here has actually played even in a high school team with any organization at all you know just hard it is not to make mistakes..it would take a team so professional and fluent in a style to be able to transition during play and not have it hold them back. This alone, was personally baffling idk about the rest of you..

You forgot one thing: in football, just like in real life, your name and reputation are important. Pirlo will always get job offers simply given who he was as a player.
Also, I don’t see why Pirlo can’t be a top coach one day. He only got 5 fewer points in his first season as a coach than Sarri did after 30 years of experience.
I feel some of you are judging him too harshly, I don’t think 99.9% coaches will have a wonderful season in their first year without a preseason and with a fucked up schedule.
Once again, I blame Agnelli, Tici and Nedved a lot more for hiring him in the first place than I blame Pirlo himself.

I did like the idea of his thesis in the attacking phase. 5 attackers across is very modern, lots of teams do it. The problem was the organization of the team. Just completely amateur.

I didn't even hate the 3 man line but you have to play it higher and be zonal and then they can just step out to press the opponent at midfield. Instead the CBs would just turn and run back to our keeper. And there was so much space between our lines. No counter pressing, just turn and retreat? We have fucking 5 attackers up there already. Might as well press.

The best thing he did was just give up and go to a house league 4-4-2 formation and just put the basic two banks of four and scrape 4th place. But even then the block was so low and there was no protection for the CBs.

It was the most amateurish we've ever looked in terms of the team's collective movement up and down the pitch and defensively was just shambles early in the season.

But what do you expect, he had absolutely no experience to speak of. In terms of his future, it's hard to project him as a good coach when you see how out of touch he is with overall team organization. Absolute common sense elements were not there.

He will for a time but after a few jobs he'll have to have some success or his career could fizzle out and end up in MLS or CSL or something. He'll get jobs for a while based on player reputation and also coaching Juventus and winning a couple of domestic trophies, but I think one of his next two jobs needs to go well for him.

He was thrown in at the deep end but he did also agree to that. It's easy to say he couldn't turn down the job but he was offered and accepted it on a vision, not merit. He could easily have been U23 coach now with Allegri as coach and a career path set out for him. There can't be many easier jobs than our U23 team to cut your teeth and test out formations and ideas, the team just needs to not be relegated.
