I still believe he should'nt play in this game. I pray to god he proves me wrong.
So who would be the best choice to replace Pirlo for this match? Pirlo has been awful in general all season but we havent a choice for replace him.
i think pirlo needs to be in that spot otherwise our defense will be shaky.

Marchisio for Pirlo, Vidal back to CM & Pereyra as CAM. Thats the most common idea.

good idea
forgot to throw in pereyra behind tevez-morata
we can use pirlo in 2nd half or Coman for vidal and some things...
Yeah, we COULD, but i highly doubt it's gonna happen under Allegri...Pirlo will Start for sure.
And Coman would only get his usual 4 minutes if we are chasing a Result...

i have nothing against him playing but we have to limit his time on the ball. his long balls can be a lethal weapon on the counter with Morata upfront though. we should have Pogba and Marchisio taking the pressure of him and let them create some of our attacks

You simply can't do that. No one at the club is big enough to tell Pirlo what to do tbh. He's been always that way carrying the ball too much at times and slowing down the play. The worst thing about him are his give aways though. This season he does it more than in the previous ones.

Other than that you can't do that because our other CMs will leave it on his shoulders as they usually do. Only when Pirlo isn't there the others take the responsibility of spreading the ball and creating the play.

If it was up to me I'd bench him. but unfortunately our alternatives aren't too good and that's why I see Allegri playing with Pirlo.

i dont know what to think about the bolded. maybe its true, but this is a CL KO game. its not a game for Pirlo to do whatever he wants...

anyway, we have to avoid passing the ball to Pirlo when pressed by them and we need other players to start our attacks. Bonucci (and Chiellini) need to be looking for Marchisio/Pogba instead. Dortmund will play their pressing when we are in possession and Pirlo will have a man on his back in most of these situations. by involving Marchisio/Pogba, Dortmund players will have to drop back too and that will also free up some space for Pirlo to receive the pass and find good solutions.

another thing is, when receiving passes from our CBs, Pirlo is often very deep and cant create much in those situations + he has a man on his back so he either loses the ball or has to pass it right away. since he is turned with his back to the opponents goal he has to receive the pass, turn around and then look for solutions which takes away too much time and the opponent defends those situations very well. on the other hand, when the ball is higher up on the pitch and is then passed back to Pirlo he has a better look as he is turned with his face towards the opponents goal and can see most of the players. he has more space that way too so he has time to launch his passes and from higher up the pitch.

my point is, Pirlo can work against pressing teams when used correctly. if he is receiving the ball 20 meters from our goal with 4 opponents players around then that wont work ofcourse. are Allegri and Pirlo willing to do such adjustments? thats again a question of the bolded part of your post and how much truth thee is about it. i think Allegri will make the right decision with Pirlo and will reduce the danger of him losing the ball often
