Free kick maestro Juninho Pernambucano has admitted that Andrea Pirlo is now the new king of the set piece.

The Brazil international is widely believed to be one of the greatest free kick takers of all time with, according to Who Scored, a conversation rate of just over 16 per cent.

But the 39-year-old has claimed that the Italian veteran can now be considered the master.

“Pirlo is a demon,” he told Sport TV. “He has not only copied my shot, but improved it.

“If I was still playing I’d try and get hold of him, and ask him to teach me that technique.”
