pogba is a box to box midfielder

that's what he is best at, it would be stupid to use him in a position where he isn't used to his full potential
I agree with this, perhaps next season we can change the system to allow Pogba more freedom instead of playing so deep. We lack creativity in the team without pirlo. The only 2 options we have is to change the system so we are not clueless in attack like we are now or get a like for like replacement for Pirlo like Veratti.

Personally i would rather see the system changed possibly a 4-2-3-1 with Tevez playing behind the striker like Del Piero's position. Pogba and Vidal would be such a good combo for that formation.

A bit of a re-post, this, on my part, but I don't get descriptions such as "terrible, "awful" and "horrendous" tonight. He was good in the first half. Great positioning, even won the ball back a few times, distributed passes well and had a BRILLIANT through-ball to Pogba. His 2nd half was poor, I agree, but I think many are a bit harsh on him tonight.
The pass to Vidal - that would have led to a penalty if the ball hadn't brushed Vidal's arm - was even better, I thought, than the pass to Pogba.

He should really consider retiring from international football.
He'll retire from it after the World Cup.

The best thing I have read in ages regarding pirlo.

But working on his decition making would do for now. We are always caught with our pants down everytime pirlo loses the ball. I know this can happel and will continue happening, no one is perfect. But sometimes he does it when it could be avoided and thats were im goin at.
If there's one thing that you can't critisize about him is his decision making. The lad is a genius. Easily the smartest midfielder that I've ever seen. Even when he dillies and dallies on the ball there's normally something to it. When it works it looks brilliant. The problem is easily fatigue. We should be intelligent about the amount of game time he gets. He should also retire from int football to keep him fresh. If the mind wants to do something, and the body can't do it you'll end up looking foolish on the pitch. We need marchiso back, and play pogba in pirlos position in the smaller games, and when the big games come by, we'll play him.

It makes the decision not pay 13 million for Verratti look worse by the day. It was so clear that he was the heir to pirlos throne and yet we decided it was too much money. The other thing is when you sign such a young unproven player the player is generally on very small wages. Which would've decreased the overall cost of the transfer.

There are other options out there. I'd like to see us focus on younger players rather than someone lie alonso who will probably only give us two seasons at best. Thinking short term is not going to lead us to sustained dominance.

We first have to decide whether we're gonna keep using our midfield the way we've been doing or whether we're going to alter the structure. If we're still going to do what we're doing then its going to be difficult to find a replacement.

Hopefully Prandelli doesn't call him up for the remaining games, seeing how Italy have qualified in first place already, and gives a chance to Verratti/anyone else.

Conte said in an interview that for now Pirlo doesn't need a rest as he has very little game time in his legs, however, in the future he will probably have to rest him

Not talking about this game but in general. Its hard to see us going far in the CL with Pirlo sitting in front of that back 3,it really is.He is an absolute weakness out there. But then again,we are so dependant on him for his creativity. Its such a dilemma situation and we're creating more trouble for ourselves by going after Xabi Alonso for next season.

Need to reshape our team into an athletic ,pacy team if we want to catch up with the rest of Europe.I mean not just pace but a balance of pace and creative yet agile maestros.I can now understand why Allegri prefers to play a proper DM in the regista position.

Make no doubt about it,this team is perfect for Serie A's slow tempo but has a hell lot of catching up to do in terms of European footy.

Two things that can be done to reduce the margin is introduce more pace upfront especially on the flanks and start playing a DM in the regista position.Verratti for all his talent is another terrible defender, needs to work on his positioning drastically and doest even come close to the amount of interceptions Pirlo makes every game.

Call it a knee-jerk or whatever you want but i'm one of those who's always uncomfortable going to a big European clash with Pirlo in the starting lineup.

I think we should let him go next summer or give him a reduced role in the team. We need to get used to life after Pirlo, our whole game plan goes out the window if he is man marked out of the game or is not playing well. Becoming to reliant on one player is a bad thing especially when he is the wrong side of 30.

Instead of finding a pirlo replacement why cant we just swap this 3-1-4-2 for a 3-4-1-2? Get rid of the regista role and get a trequartista? Or even play tevez behind the strikers.
