You can't really blame anyone under the circumstances. These things happen in football, and hindsight is always 20/20. I'm sure, faced with a similar situation we'd have perhaps done the same. In fact, Galliani offered him a one year extension which he refused for a longer contract. I don't think we'd have even offered that.

When you account for him getting older and playing more games every week, 3 years more is a bit of a stretch. The only way we can elongate his life on the pitch is getting somebody, responsible enough to take up his role on fairly regular basis. I can't see Pirlo keeping up this form if he's overused next season. Fatigue will play a big factor for him eventually.
