Marchisio is not a DM, no. He is a box-to-box CM. What I'm saying is he can play in a 2-man midfield. Of course CM partners should complement each other. You wouldn't play Makelele and Mascherano together in a 4-4-2 nor Scholes and Xavi. England had problems fitting Gerrard and Lampard together so they moved Gerrard out wide and tried all kinds of things.

Marchisio--Vidal could work if we had particularly capable and creative wingers. For Juve, I'd say 4-3-3 with Vidal--Pirlo--Marchisio is the best option.

We'll see if Vidal--Pirlo works. It may, but Vidal will then not be the attacking threat he was with Leverkusen as he'd be forced to watch Pirlo's ass.
Well I hate to sound overly negative but I really don't think our group of CMs really fit the 4-4-2 system and I'm a little worried that this could be a huge problem. Vidal can hussle and tackle players well but i think putting him on defensive duty in a 4-4-2 is a potentially a big waste of everything he can bring to the table.

That's what I'm saying. Wasn't Pirlo signed before we decided on Conte? I think he's a luxury that Conte has to try and accommodate for his system.

Anyway, I forgot that I decided to get into debates about Marchisio anymore. I'll let him do the talking for me on the pitch.

Btw, can't wait to see what Sunday brings.

Spot on. It's giving me concern, too.

I admire your confidence in Claudio, let's hope you're right 'cause all he needs is cojones.

I agree this will almost certainly be an issue that comes up under Conte. In fact I don't think any of Pirlo, Vidal or Marchisio are really that suited to Conte's formation and he may end up needing to change that instead of trying to force a flawed partnership to work.

Vidal's quality up forward = Toni's 40 goals in Bundesliga.

LEt him stick to destroyer at first and see how it goes.
What?

Claudio most likely won't start.
