I reckon at worst they'll leave him out of this game and he'll be back for the Napoli match. Doesnt seem to be too serious at all.

Anyway this just highlights the need for us to get a vice-Pirlo either in January or the end of the season. None of this Gabriel Appelt talk, kid is only 18 and hasnt even played in Serie A yet, we need someone with a little more experience.

Omg, great attitude
Obviously I was over exaggerating but that does really hurt our chances, and I mean big time.

This isn't targeted towards you or anything but - I hate how on these forums people think its like a fairy land and we all have to be cheerful and optimistic to be a true fan. Like no, Pirlo getting hurt (or anyone in our starting 11 in that matter) severely hurts our chances.

That doesn't mean the others weren't working hard.
Our players can work hard all they want, but without Pirlo its going to be a big blow. He slows down the game, hold possession, distributes great passes and overall is the mastermind for our team.

That's why in January I want a real replacement for him because without him we're cut down big time.

Yeah, it shouldn't be a fairy land, but it shouldn't be a graveyard as well.
You know, with all the weeping and pessimism.

Joe is completely right about the ridicolous importance Pirlo has for this team, only after being here for a short while. I'm not sure about you, but I vividly remember how awkward we were on possession before we had him (compared to now retaining mostly), doesnt need to be Parma like performances, Pirlo matters so much in small ways we take for granted. Like how he easily shifts flanks with one smooth long ball. Transistions I know we suffered with due to awkward passing, our players growing almost scared to have it certains and leading to unnecessary counters against us, or generally being dominated by small teams due to this flaw. He solves pretty much all of that, by being a figure they can dump that responsibility on.

Just think of last season--us clearing a corner and Melo or anyone else getting the ball to distribute while the defence tries to get back its shape, and then one retarded backheel pass or misguided long pass back to the opponent's D later and we face another attacking wave. Pirlo is the only player capable of bringing some calm while we transition from defence to attack.

Which brings me to another point. Even though we don't have to and probably can't replace Pirlo directly--probably have to replace him with a creative player in another position (CAM or winger), we still have to get a midfielder that can bring the ball out of defence calmly, hold on to the ball and slow the play down if need be. Marchisio can't and I don't know if Vidal can, but I doubt. Which is why I doubt a 4-4-2 with those 2 in the mid can work long term. It doesn't have to be some flashy regista--we had Emerson and Vieira that did it well enough.

Yeah, Pirlo almost single-handedly determines how a team plays.

He is the primary reason for Juve's infinitely more controlled style this season.

Nobody's denying how important he is to the team. When did I say he's not?
I consider him our best signing along with Licht.
But predicting a loss mixed with some weeping just because he's missing a few games is stretching it.

He is vital and decisive for any team. But I'm very interested in seeing how we'll play without him.
Many (especially opponents) have claimed that Juve would be lost without him, I wanna see if we can prove them wrong.
And this could be a good thing after all as it might bring attention to the fact that we need someone in the winter mercato to fill in Pirlo's shoes whenever he's not available.

Nicely written and I agree.

A defender who can play the ball would also be another possible solution.
