MLS is going the wrong route. They should try to persuade the best south american talent to come there and then sell them for big money in year or two. Now they are wasting money on players with no resale value.
The way the league is set up doesn't allow that. It's too fair and US centered. Though it is slowly moving away from that model.

1994 was supposed to bring football to the States. And before that there were Cruijff and Pele. Football is not going to big over there anytime soon.
MLS maybe not until they let the oil money in like Europe and stop with the joke rules. However, check out the ratings that NBC gets for EPL these days. Definitely a growing market segment as MLB and NHL rides into the sunset.

Unfortunately this is true, no one cares about the concacaf champions league. So until these teams can all play in the one champions league no one will do it
Yeah they could still build a good league given good/mediocre players from the non champions league sides in Europe would be able to earn more money playing in the MLS. I think it would be attractive to guys who would play on a team like Parma or Atalanta to go and earn double or triple and be considered a bigger star in the MLS then they are in Italy. Look how good Giovinco is doing and the crazy money he is earning

Definitely a good point and itching were the league will start going. Players that can't break into the starting 11 of the bigger clubs but ride the pine will consider it an option if they relax the communist entity rules

If by Communist Entity rules you mean the Salary Cap, do you want to see the MLS become the NASL all over again?

The irony is that while TV ratings for the MLB and NHL are dipping, actual attendance for those two sports have never been higher. Especially baseball. Then again, those are the two sports where the notion that seeing it live is better than seeing it on TV is definitely true.

Isn't that true for basically every sport taking place in a stadium?
