Yes, it made more room for him. Marchisio and Pirlo both working together in our build-up helped massively tonight. He'd drift wide to the left when on few occasion they man marked him and other times Marchisio would step in and take the reigns. I liked how these two combined.

It really helped him that it was us keeping the opponents pinned down in their third of the pitch for a change.

He prospers with enough space.

Not only that, this kind of formation with extra man in midfield doesn't allow the opponents to man mark him.
Excellent performance no matter what allowed that.

Ah fuk it. he shut my mouth hardcore today.

few misplaced passes and loss of possesion and a great strike.
But ireally think the formation change helped him. In the 352 he is like a bulb in the darkness and the enemies are the bugs flying toward him. In this new formation , theres some danger moving on in front of him and he can have more room to do his thing,.
