Not sure id trust some Valencia fans on where he would play here. I don't know either but we don't know how differently Max would use him compared to how he plays for Valencia
So what does who watch him regurarly for 2 seasons say about the player doesnt matter? He is young and can grow to different roles. But right now he seems to be best suited for mobile more attacking tasks then holding mid on all accounts.

He's little short descriptions from couple of Valencia fans:

Nothing in Valencian press about this but since we're missing out on CL money this year it's feasible one of the stars will be sold.

But he's not really a playmaker or a passer of the ball. Ideally played in the left in a 4-3-3 or in the hole behind a mobile striker. Gomes likes to run with the ball. Probably wont be a good fit for the slower football thats played in Italy
I'm not sure what the difference would be regarding CL. Andre Gomes thrives in counter-attacking situations, where he can run with the ball. Othwerise he does his best work just outside the box with liberty to move around. He tends to naturally drift to the left flank

Trying to play him as a regista will make you dissappointed. Passing accuracy is not his biggest strength. He is an action-player, he will try the difficult thing to make something happen most of the time
I don't know wtf a regista is (these poncey footballing terms ffs) but he's best as an AM.

I don't know where this thing about his playmaking comes from.

Give him time on the ball and he won't make things happen.

He's good in tight situations and his incisive dribbling.

That's also most likely the reason he's been shit this season, cos we've abandoned our counter attacking style from last season.
Hopefully he'll be good for you (if you sign him) but you must let him have the freedom to express himself. Do not play him as a regista. Play him behind the striker(s) with freedom to move around and he'll be great. He suffered today due to our shittiness as a team

 Seriously.

Buffon

Licht - Bonucci - Chiellini - Sandro

Khedira - Marchisio - Pogba

Andre Gomes

Dybala - Morata

Pretty good, should have some nice exchanges with Gomes and Pogba.

True, but it's likely to be mez'ala or AM, not DM that's his not known for. There is a reason we want him, and it's not for a role he rarely played.

Just take off the Zach glasses for a moment and accept what is being suggested as a possibility. If we get Gomes there are high chances of 4312 happening, especially in Europe. Allegri tried the switch from 352 to 4312 before and he was forced to move back to 352. Gomes enables Allegri to try it again. We'll see how it works out but Bjerken's formation is pretty much spot on, except for Morata who will leave IMO.
Marchisio will be replaced by Lemina. If we wanted a regista, we'd go for one. Why trying to adapt a 30m dynamic B2B/AM to it? I guess the Valencia fans know it best, it'd be a waste.

Yeah, those are his best positions and he should play there most of the times. Marchisio will miss few months at the beginning of the season though, and with Pogba and Khedira set as starters thats the best bet for him to play right away regularly. That or AM incase we lose Cuadrado and go 4312. But I think we will keep the 352 atleast till Marchisio returns

Cuadrado is gone too. I can't see Conte doing us a favour. We lose Morata and Cuadrado but hopefully that's all.

Big, big losses. Moratas loss is corrected with the acquisition of Cavani. But Cuadrado, he's kind of hard to replace for his unique characteristics that don't necessarily fit our 4312 tactics and yet, his ability and skill set makes him give us another dimension in our play. And just the kind of versatility that we like. For Europe especially.

The solution to Marchisio absence is Lemina, or God forbid, Hernanes.

Gomes could easily play as a trequartista.
I have no idea about Gomes, but Vidal played as some some or trequartista too and by what I could gather from stats and youtube videos I imagine Gomes would play the same role.

He likes to run with the ball as i've observed ,two-footed and he's hardworking something that's prototypical of an Allegri type AM.So its not hard to imagine Allegri using him as a TQ.
Oscar for example is liked by Allegri as well who has a similar sort of profile but obviously seeing that Gomes can play multiple roles would sit very well with the management.
