Ancelotti desires Emerson bid
Thursday 25 May, 2006

Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has asked his club to make an offer for Emerson if he becomes available for transfer.

The Brazilian is being linked with an exit should Juventus find themselves in Serie B next term as a result of the alleged match-fixing scandal.

And after already being linked with the Rossoneri, Ancelotti has now publicly admitted that he would welcome the South American with open arms.

“We need to modify a few things in midfield during the 2006-07 campaign,” the former Italian international stated.

“The ideal solution would be placing a figure of substance alongside [Andrea] Pirlo. I’m thinking of someone like Emerson.”

The former Bayer Leverkusen ace joined Juve two years ago after following boss Fabio Capello to Turin from Roma.

Meanwhile, Milan’s Manuel Rui Costa has admitted that he is hoping to seal a move to former club Benfica this summer.

“I hope to soon become a Benfica player, even if there is nothing certain at this stage,” stated the Portuguese playmaker.

“I’ve not freed myself from Milan yet. There are a few details to sort out and there should be developments in the next few days.”

The 34-year-old former Fiorentina player wants to leave after spending another campaign on the bench at the San Siro.

of course they want Emerson, He is one of the best midfielders in the world. We are very lucky to have him. He is our captain on the midfield.
If we sell him 06/07 will be like 03/04. He is crucial.

Players like Emerson, Cannavaro, Buffon, Zambrotta and Del Piero are untouchable and very crucial to us. If we sell any of them, we are screwed.

That goes for Thuram, Nedved and Trezeguet too.

yes. let's keep the whole squad with us untill they retire and leave us with nothing. that's not smart business, sometimes sacrifices are made. selling zizou at his peak was the smartest thing the club did, i didn't like it, but it was for the best. if we can get some good money for him, i say sell. god knows if we get relegated we're gonna sell for peanuts.

I would rather have Emerson stay and Vieira go.
when we won the league in capello's first season in charge for me the most decisive factor in turning around our fortunes was buying canavarro (defensive rock) and emerson(midfield filter) these were the two most important purchases juve made. emerson does the hard graft, the dirty work and he does it with aplomb, we rely heavily on his steadying influence in the middle of the park and it would be foolish to let him join milan
